Are we certain on the 24th February start date? The linked Evening Standard article says April, what one is correct? I agree with both posts on social media and newspapers can be misleading, in fact I am at this moment looking at an article in the Daily Mail about a pilot ‘kidnapped and tortured’ in South Africa, however the photograph accompanying the article is of a A320, which to my knowledge has never flown London to Johannesburg. Makes sense not to introduce the new route during purdah and introduce this before the Mayor election, as to give the Mayor a best chance in the election, so therefore the February date on here seems more feasible. However it would be great to see this date as official.

I don't think Purdah is a factor here, I think TfL wants to have the services up and running by the end of the current Financial Year on 31st March.

Those early morning trips sound like they'll be quite spirited - that will require an average speed along the way of about 20/25 mph including bus stops!

Having the name super won’t suddenly make buses quicker. They need more dedicated bus lane and less obstacles like wide cycle lane that take up more road space and cause congestion. As for the tatty buses can we at least give Arriva chance? We don’t even know for sure what buses are being used yet.

Also whether the SL5 is perceived to be faster because of the long distances between stops - perceptions of time can count as much as measured time.

I think it was assumed it would be the 289 buses but nothing confirmed as far as I am aware. There is potential for them to source used buses from elsewhere. If the 289 buses are used they will probably have a tidy up.
