Folks I'm not sure if it's just me but I've noticed there's been an increase of dog attacks nowadays.
Why is this the case?
It seems there's a lot of people breeding American Bully XLs. If this carries on then I wouldn't be surprised to see that dog put on the banned list along with the Cane Corso.
Is there any dog owners/lovers on here who can shed light on this matter?

I have seen the dog attack in Lambeth this week which was pretty horrific to watch. There was also another incident in Limehouse a few weeks ago where the dogs ended up being killed!

It is very concerning and I think it's often the owner rather than the dog, often odious individuals who want their dog to be aggressive as it suits their lifestyle.

I’m not an owner of a dog but I do class myself as a dog lover - putting certain breeds on a banned list won’t solve the problem because that’s just scapegoating an entire breed because even Pitbulls & Rottweilers (dogs people are often scared of) can be well behaved dogs with the correct person. The issue is owners and how you stop dogs ending up with the wrong people who clearly shouldn’t be allowed to own a dog

Like to be honest it's all good having pets but people need to understand and know that there are others that are either scared of hate them

How would you go about the vetting process of owning a dog and you're right in the sense that putting them dogs on the list would be a scapegoat matter. I know ear cropping over here is illegal but in the US its legal out there.

I think it's the owners responsibility to look after their dog and that includes teaching it to behave itself. A neglective owner would allow their dog to do things like attack humans.

It's a good question to ask and one I'm not sure I have the answer to - maybe treat as if it's someone applying to work with children?

I just feel as though it will be unfair to those that genuinely like Dogs unable to get one due to those that have little to no regard for them disgraces it for everyone else.

Many of the increase is down to the owners using dogs as weapons etc. Although others, i.e. around small children tends to happen when dogs get jealous of children. I would not keep a dog around any small children, I have seen and heard over the years many attacks especially if the child came to the house after the dog.

Most of it is the criminal fraternity using dogs as weapons or status symbols but that's a good point about children and dogs, even the most placid of dogs can become jealous of children visiting.
