I think the OP was more on about routes that have excessive runs out of service to turn around. I don't think many exist anymore, the 343 has a ridiculous one which takes it to Houndsditch at Liverpool Street to turn around but it won't even make a dent in the record the 171 will set.

The 690 goes to the end of Burntwood Lane and down to the roundabout by Plough Lane to turn around. Not sure if it still does but the 412 used to run up to Purley Oaks roundabout in order to serve stops in Purley Town Centre.

As the 690 stopped using the roundabout and goes further around Summerstown instead since GAL took over it is quite a long detour!

It probably goes to the next roundabout now at the junctions of Garrat Lane and Wimbledon Road by Streatham Cemetery.

I'm assuming now the Downlands Precint is the last set down.

Possible - although would have thought the 171 gets a reasonable number of passengers getting to / from the Catford railway stations from the Bromley Road direction. And at the moment I'm not sure where they would find for a stand for buses coming from the Brockley direction, although this may change if the latest plans for the South Circular actually happen (pardon my cynicism, but I've seen plans come and go for quite a long time, including the ones that led to the whole 'Catford Island' being derelict for ages.) The 171 picks up higher numbers of passengers from the Lewisham Town Hall Stop. If it was diverted via the 181 to Lewisham for example would be quite useful as many board buses on Sandhurst Road area and wait for the 171 at Catford. Most people waiting for buses on Bromley Road are heading in the direction of Lewisham. I doubt a stand would be specifically created for the 171 in the town centre very limited space around even with the consultation out now. Would involve spending more money on it that is not going to happen. If the 171 remains in its current form I would not be surprised if it goes to Stagecoach in 2025. Yes, the stop outside the Broadway Theatre is a big interchange between the 171 and the Sangley Road buses. Although Sangley Road is a bit of a squeeze at times, I think following the N171 route would be very popular. The issue will have to be addressed sooner or later as the Broadway Theatre stop is to be swept away under the Catford plans. The Old Downham Way stand is still there, with cars usually parked on it.

I'm pretty sure the 181 terminus was moved from TL to Downham because of Kentish Bus taking over the route. I did hear a suggestion that the subsequent extension to Grove Park was because of residents complaints about the Downham stand?
You may be right on that - I don't remember much about it. There was no obvious need to support the 36B or 136 or whatever it was that week along Downham Way, although possibly an argument for a direct bus between Downham Way and the big Sainsburys at Lower Sydenham?

From what I've seen 171's all seem to be going out of service to Downham although it isn't illegal to do a U-turn and TL based buses sometimes do so.

Is it really ever that deep? So if you needed to go somewhere and your only way of reaching there was an electric 199, would you rather walk just to avoid a type of bus? Tbh with you I would just take an Electric if needed but with LTs it is a no way whatever happens, I would walk if possible or use an Uber worst case scenario. Bear in mind the whole network across cities are going Electric (Globally, not just London) so sooner rather than later I will need to use them whether I like or not. The way I look at it atm, if there is the option of using a Diesel or Hybrid why not utilise as they are reaching the end of the road. You must be fun to travel with. Not a huge fan of electrics myself but if it gets me where I need to be then I really don't give a flying ....
