I don’t buy the whole advertising on buses and trains encourages vaping! It’s the same with the whole junk food advertising ban. People will do what they want regardless. Surely the whole point of advertising is to encourage more use of the product being advertised? If that's not happening then advertisers are wasting their money.

I think the smoking ban introduced in 2007 has worked very well, people are still free to smoke if they wish but they can no longer inflict it on others. One thing I do think is over the top is attempts to ban smoking within hospital grounds, in practice it doesn't work anyway and just causes unnecessary conflict. Hospital visits for whatever reason can be very stressful and surely some sort of bus shelter can be provided for smokers to indulgence away from everyone else? It's ridiculous that patients in dressing gowns are expected to go outside the hospital grounds for a smoke and what about buses terminating within hospital grounds, the driver might want a smoke between trips. Like many others I tried it 'behind the bike sheds' in my school days but once I could smoke legally it didn't seem so attractive and I've never smoked cigarettes since, just a very occasional cigar now and again. I was always a social smoker. Back in my clubbing days I used to regularly go to the smoking area to borrow cigarettes from smokers as you’d always meet the most interesting people out there. I was still friends with a few of them prior to covid.

The point is younger people are probably exposed to adverts more online than on the back of a bus or on the Underground. The fact that vapes are sold alongside sweets and the like on stalls in places like shopping centers is more the issue here. Even in Iceland they have a huge range at the tills. It makes you laugh years ago they removed sweets from the tills but vapes are okay.
Just going back to adverts. To a certain extent traditional paper media advertising is drying up! The amount of billboards I see without adverts is increasing and a lot of the time they have the advert companies phone number advertising the space.

I hardly ever use buses nowadays but happen to be on a bus at school kicking out time and kids are vaping upstairs.

It's crazy 🤣🤣

It's literally advertised to kids , bright colours nice sweet flavours there's even ones shaped like a strawberry milkshake and these disposable ones make it so easy aswell as all the plastic and battery waste they need to be banned the refillable ones are bad but nowhere near as much waste and blatent advertising to kids , Tobacco industry needs to keep people hooked though heard aswell on radio last week that more people vape now than smoke .

I totally agree, the same as junk food advertising which is mainly aimed at kids.

It's advertised at several bus stops, no surprise kids are vaping on the buses. I say if they have breathing problems when they're older, they deserve it. Not enough education about this takes place in school either

Few things are more irritating than having to breath in that artificially sweetened smoke.
I never got the appeal or point of vaping other than weaning yourself off the cig sticks. If you want the taste of pink grapefruit in your mouth then go out and buy one. It’s much healthier for you in the long run.

In all fairness, they’ve been thinking about this for a couple of months as I remember watching the news and it was mentioned on there

So how you do propose to get people off smoking if you ban vapes as well? My mum has come off everything but how she did was go from cigarettes to vapes - not everyone can simply come off from cigarettes to nothing and I say this as someone who has never smoked at all. Kids are hooked to them because smaller shops are selling them without checking ID - if a supermarket did it, they'd be prosecuted and staff sacked or even sent to jail (same goes for alcohol and knifes)

Unfortunately it's difficult to police and I can unfortunately see people born before 2009 buying cigarettes for people born after 2009
