Big no for remembering route 61 to R6 as Route 61 have been running service for many years to come since 1934. R11 shouldn't be change to R2 as it not making a sense. Most people can see R11 with larger single deck buses as R1 only small single deck buses however if it go ahead to Biggin Hill, people will find out if R1 went wrong way via R2 at Orpington. They will get off and head back to station bus stop nearby for Route R3 to correct route to GSG. Bit of an oddball suggestion for Biggin Hill, but here goes: 246 - keep the same 320- Rather than serving Oakley Road, run via PRUH and Bromley Bus Garage. Reduce to 3bph X320 - Limited stop bus - All Biggin Hill stops, then Leaves Green/Kings Arms, Ravens Wood School, Bromley South, all stops to Catford Bridge. 3bph (358 will serve Oakley Road stops instead of X320) 464 - New Addington to Oxted via Biggin Hill and Tatsfield. In Biggin Hill, run a loop of the valley/Melody Road areas previously served by R2. This route will be extended to Oxted to give Oxted (and rail customers from East Grinstead/Uckfield) access to Biggin Hill. R2- Completely remove. Orpington passengers can change buses at Ravens Wood School (353) or PRUH(61, 353) for Orpington, Chislehurst and Ramsden Estate. R8 - Keep the same I’m not local but I do use the corridor a fair bit: which is that I would describe the 320 as a lamppost, and the 208 is the dog that pees on it. Simply because the 320 doesn’t go to Lewisham, and it’s the sheer volume of Lewisham to Bromley passengers that makes the 208 so overloaded. Because of that the 320 is often carrying fresh air, and is a rather pointless relief route. It should go to Lewisham to give the 208 proper backup, or the 208 needs increasing. So an X208 should be introduced before an X320 all day long, unless an X320 actually started at Lewisham to actually give it relevance

You could definitely make an argument for an X320 extension down the A21 from Bromley to Lewisham, as the 320 tends to pick up passengers at all the bus stops between the towns

R8 - Keep the same Reducing the 320 would likely put extra pressure on the 208 from Catford to Bromley Common, especially as it would be the only high frequency route on from Catford to Bromley town centre. Withdrawing it from Catford to Bromley North or rerouting it to serve Grove Park via Downham Way and extending the 199 to Bromley Common would be a better idea in my opinion if the route has to be modified. Extending the 464 to Oxted may be a bit of reach, especially as it’s SCC territory, but if finances weren’t a constraint, there could be a bit of merit to the idea.

Ever since the 320 was extended to Catford in 2010 for the last 13 years, both routes just punch each other and overtake between Catford and Bromley Common. What needs to happen is a 6 minute gap between the two routes. X320 would be pointless because it is pretty much an express anyways… The majority get on at Biggin Hill Post Office and the bus pretty much cruises to Bromley Common stopping at maybe a few stops on the way. Extending the 320 to Lewisham would make it way too long.

Extending the 464 to Oxted may be a bit of reach, especially as it’s SCC territory, but if finances weren’t a constraint, there could be a bit of merit to the idea. If that invisible border wasn’t there, and TfL were more amenable to more cross border bus links, Oxted is one of quite a few Surrey towns and villages I think would benefit from a TfL service of some description, but I realise we are heading off topic now.

If it is such a benefit, why has a commercial operator not picked it up? If it is a sustainable link, it is sustainable TfL or not.

Then I would extend the 199 to Bromley Common (to retain the Lewisham to Bromley Common link) That's what was previously proposed but it didn't happen because of the lack of stand space in Bromley for the 199 but that would just be the same situation as now with the 208 rather than the 320 finishing at Catford Bridge. If stand space can be found in Bromley maybe extend the 171 there which at least provides a link to the Brockley area. The 320 can then revert to Bromley North to Biggin Hill.

I suppose it could take the 126’s stand and the 126 extended to the Crown. There is however still the issue of space to terminate the presumably truncated 320.

Not to mention they have to find stand space for the SL3 and SL5 in Bromley aswell. I still wonder if the Bromley review will try and remove a couple of routes to take the pressure off stand space. I could still see the 162 from Eltham to Coney Hall and the 126 from Eltham to Beckenham Junction with the 138 withdrawn. Similar to how 5 routes in Orpington will drop to 3.

I think it is perhaps more likely that the 162 number would be the sacrifice in that situation (126 to Beckenham Junction, 138 extended to Eltham, 162 withdrawn) but that is semantics - I think that the basic idea is quite plausible.
