If you said to me in 1986 when Roundabout came about and these routes first started and you told me that the R1 would go on to replace the R2 to Biggin Hill at full frequency, I would think you mad.

What needs to happen is a 6 minute gap between the two routes. How about cutting the 208 to Catford Bridge (so both routes can start at the same place). Then I would extend the 199 to Bromley Common (to retain the Lewisham to Bromley Common link) You break the Orpington to Lewisham bus link then. I’d rather cut the 320 to Bromley North, and extend the 199 to Bromley to cover the Bromley to Catford section and to link Bromley with places north of Lewisham.

Orpington and Lewisham can be linked by train albeit at a much different price to the bus (though surely quicker). Changing buses isn't that much of an issue in my opinion

TfL were proposing to terminate the 208 at Catford and extend the 199 to Bromley but it didn't happen because of the lack of stand space.

The problem with living in an area without tube/Overground/dlr services is that the NR prices are considerably higher. It might put people off from using the services and instead will consider using buses which is unfortunately slower.

Any ideas as to when the consultation response will be published You will have to wait until TfL confirm the result before releasing to TfL website or someone see it and post it here. 😊👍🏻

I don't think there's a big problem with these changes as nowhere loses a bus service and some areas get improvements.

Following the public consultation held between 20 September and 1 November 2023 proposing changes to bus routes R1, R2, R3, R6 and B14 in the London Borough of Bromley. The proposals were presented in three parts: Proposal 1: reroute the R3 via Towncourt Lane in Petts Wood Proposal 2: withdraw the R2 and replace it with changes to routes R1 and R3 Proposal 3: withdraw route R6 and replace it with changes to route B14 We received 445 responses to the consultation and would like to thank everyone that took part. Following careful consideration of the consultation responses and a further review of what was proposed and the costs involved, we have decided not to proceed with changes to routes R1, R2 and R3 as these no longer represent value for money. Today we have published our consultation report which confirms the decision not to proceed with Proposals 1 and 2. The report also includes our response to the key issues raised in response to these proposals. We have not yet reached a decision as to how we may proceed with Proposal 3 which remains subject to the receipt of bus operator costs. A decision is expected later in 2024 and we will write to you again with a further update once this is available. Thank you again to everyone that took part in the consultation. haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/orpington-bus-proposals

Incoming controversial opinion - I think this is a shame. I thought these proposals, namely the R1/R2/R3 swap were good especially as they'd have meant a big uplift in service for Biggin Hill Valley.
I notice the R2, R8 and R11 awarded today both have an extra PVR added so let's hope there is something in the way of increased service on both of those routes instead although I'm sure extra recovery and running time wouldn't go amiss on some of these outer Lodnon routes.
The B14/R6 proposals also made sense I thought. I wouldn't be surprised to see those go through.
