Does all this mean that the Abellio fleet will be getting rebranded? The sale has only just been announced! O and before you ask no existing buses won’t get new seat moquette. Later down the line buses needing refurbishment will receive some type of rebrand.

The new company is called Transport UK Group Limited. Whether Transport UK is the trading name or not remains to be seen. Hopefully the new trading name will be more interesting, although at the end of the day it's actual operations that counts. Looking forward in time to the new logo, bus interior¹, driver uniform, etc. ¹ - new and refurbished examples Hopefully the new trading name is one word like 'Abellio'. It will be interesting to see what the new company Transport UK Group eventually come up with.

If the new company has no association with the company in the Netherlands, they'll probably have to change their name as there will still be a company named Abellio floating around elsewhere, even if it offshore.

Interesting times ahead. Just in time for Great British Railways to take over, where the majority of trains may be under a specific livery anyway. Nice that Abellio upgraded most of the trains for Greater Anglia. I'm sure the Abellio brand can stay, minus the NS logo with "A Transport UK Company" underneath, Arriva stylee Trivia:- Abellio was the name of a Celtic god of apples

You're probably right - Abellio is used by NS across its German businesses so would probably need to be rebranded. This is very interesting news indeed and a management buyout is not usually a good sign. Wonder if NS pulling out of the UK market is a consequence of Brexit?

I'll be very interested to see how this new company differs from Abellio but I imagine other than a new name it will be quite similar, though I wonder if the business model will change. I hope the Abellio livery is retained as I really like it.

Abellio got burned by the Scotrail fiasco, after UK government took franchise off them. It reduces the amount of operators ahead of part nationalisation of UK railways, Avanti look to be on the brink as well. Didn't realise Abellio was an NS brand also in Germany. Doubt Brexit is an issue as many foreign investors still buying up UK firms, Go Ahead being the latest to be bought by an overseas buyer. I thought Travel London was an old NatEx brand? It will be interesting to see what new name emerges

Look what happened to Bournemouth Transport.... Its all very interesting , but I’m personally not at all convinced the future is rosy for any bus firm in London. When your main client is almost bankrupt that’s not good. I’d like to see this new firm make an offer to buy out Fulwell (FW) so it can all be under one company.

EU wants a lot more competition in the rail sector, no doubt NS face more challenges from operators back home. Ironic that UK got rid of its state railway, and ended up with state railways from other countries providing services instead Abellio have invested well in the buses, it will be a shame to see them go. Management buyouts don't always end well, venture capital firms pounce, strip out assets and break the companies up. Happened to my employer in 2014, a firm came in, and by October 2015 it was all over with redundancies and sell offs. Bus industry seems to be going through lots of changes, especially in London with even TfL in a terrible state
