The current R9 comes from the old London & Country bus route 493 which run every 20 minutes it generally did the same route as the R9 except one bus an hour went to Chelsfield Station/Green St Green this was replaced by the R3 which is currently the R1. So why am I mentioning this? No bus in those days terminated in the Ramsden Estate, in those days buses took cash and there is/was problematic areas in the Ramsden Estate with crime, buses with cash would’ve been a target. The same could be said of the old 272 in Thamesmead, it run from Woolwich to Woolwich doing a circular route round Thamesmead. So maybe the current R9 is a throwback to the old days. Now buses are cash free, the situation is different. I would be happy for the Ramsden Estate to have the R4, R9, 353 to maintain a link to the Pru, as I’m sure that this is a popular link, with workers, and would be happy to have the 208. On a side note there is plenty of land in the Ramsden area prime for redevelopment, which is advantage for bus route development. But I doubt you would have both the 208 & 353 go into Ramsden Estate especially when there isn't space for both - the 61 makes a lot more sense as it would retain the link to Locksbottom and introduce the direct link to Bromley with the 353 coming out and replacing the 61 north of Orpington and returning to every 15 minutes.

Oh there is space for both, they don’t have to terminate in the same place!
Or alternatively the 208 could replace the R9 and terminate on the Ramsden Estate, run it via the Walnut Centre, so it serves part of the High Street. So could have both the 353 and 208 terminate on the estate.
The R9 has its limitations that one way you cannot get a bus to another part of the estate.
The 353 going to Chistlehurst and 61 going to Ramsden’s Estate is a good suggestion also.
