It probably won’t though because of purdah. It's possible that, as it could be argued that the 14/414 has been in the pipeline for a long time with say, 28th May, set as the release date for the consultation and relevant public-facing activity (i.e. posters at bus stops) having been done, it would be difficult to reverse this and therefore the consultation should still be released. I agree though that any SL5/SL7 consultation won't be released until after purdah. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been in the pipeline or what has been placed at one stop sp far, the fact is the consultation hasn’t started so it cannot begin until the election is over. TfL can’t even publish consultation results during purdah which started on the 25th. If the consultation had already started it’d be a different story as it couldn’t be stopped, TfL would just have to avoid publicising it on their social media channels or through the press etc, but it hasn’t. It’s more than likely everyone will just have to wait until after the election with TfL sending a contractor round to whip out any signs placed.

I think this consultation and a couple of others (one of them being the new route 310) will launch this week, but there's no way the SL5/SL7 consultation will be released this week because it would be political suicide for Labour. If the 14/414 consultation didn’t launch on the planned date due to being caught out by the government guidance for local authorities during the pre-election period then it won’t launch until the week after the General Election and the others will have to do the same. Exactly. Many I think have been caught out by the General election timing including TfL. With the Mayoral election out of the way, TFL probably thought and planned that they had some months where they could do consultations etc before the General Election. Now that is not the case they have had to backtrack, however I am sure the 14/414 consultation along with others things being held up will appear in July after the General election. If TfL intend not to re-tender the 414, they can always negotiate with RATP to keep it going a little longer.

I think that it will be fast-tracked so it goes ahead in November when the 414 naturally comes up for retender, if the consultation drops mid-July, closes early September it's not unfeasible that it could be pushed through in two months.

I guess any open consultations can continue as planned, but results wouldn't come out before election (not that TfL normally issue consultation results promptly, often it is many months) Launching a consultation during purdah requires people to understand the rules, it is not outright banned (although some departments play safe and just don't do any), it rather depends on if it is more informative (we are diverting X route because Y bridge or road will be closed etc) or if it is motivated to serve something or save funds etc, that could be linked to political decision.

There's obvious anger from all the drivers at Wood Green after this latest bungle. Again he's out in the rain with no umbrella as he announced this He should just stick to his helicopters and armoured cars

We will look to reschedule this consultation at the earliest opportunity after 4 July 2024. Please subscribe for project updates if you would like to be notified when this consultation is launched."

The last thing the Labour Party will want to be associated with is the removal of a route completely from battleground constituencies.
