Spotted HV64 with it’s black rear cover open (an speculative sign of an long term issue from experience) and has an turbo leak. Turbo leak? or eminox exhaust. If the turbo was leaking air that would be defeaning and go straight into limp mode. Or even worst if it were oil leaking, would not be going that far. Behind that cover is another water tank and part of the air filter

Other examples (non exhaustive) from Arriva are HV51 and HV106. This is also something that slowly infects other G2 B5LHs over time and not fixed. Good to know about water tank + part of air filter. Perhaps an coincidence, last time I saw those issues was on another G2 that would often spend time off the road and another going long term VOR after spotting an few weeks before. Always happy to be corrected and pointed in right direction. Hard to know when this knowledge feels closed off/proprietary. 🙂

LT513 on the 59 blowing out quite a bit of smoke from the exhaust - presumably, the exhaust needs a clean or has a minor blockage? Certainly not something I've noticed on a LT before

Certainly not something I've noticed on a LT before Likely its diesel particulate filter (DPF) is going through an automated regeneration cycle as it's full of soot that needs burning off, hence the smoke and smell. It's normal failsafe operation for all diesel vehicles fitted with DPF. There's usually a symbol on the dash letting drivers know, the normal procedure then is to carry on driving or at least keep engine running until it's completed its procedure

Only noise I think from HV106 I can remember hearing is a very noisy compressor.

8860 broke down earlier on Richmond Bridge just after the morning rush. When the driver tried to re-start the bus, it was puffing black smoke. Minutes later, it was taken out of service and has not been in use since.

The rigours of the punishing 259 route I did wonder why Edmonton (soon to be Tottenham) took on these first gen B5LH's, and not got a few 14 platers off the 34

Why are some of the ultra caps so DXMN croaky when they move. I've noticed a lot of the SW ones like that and MB ones too. I think some from PM do it too (both mirrorless and mirrored but not as much as SW and MB). They really need to check them axles.

WVN34 broke down on morning runout, was fixed roadside and then was struggling a lot on its first journey. Doors were acting up and then when we reached Sutton Green heading towards Rose Hill, the bus started maxing out at about 3mph and was struggling the whole incline. Rear blinds also stuck on 131.
