One Questions for u guys bus driver. Today in the afternoon, i checking my bus countdown on mobile to check how long for route 269 to turn up at the bus stop. However it say 269 to bexleyheath in 5 mins. so in mins later on, it gone ! so in act 5 mins, route 269 turn up and i saw the two dots on the ibus screen. i thought why this bus driver decide to turn this off . In this result , could be lost mileages? but this bus is act running in the service!!! funny enough, the same happened in the past week, but change around. when real bus time say 3 mins. and it turn up but as in 'not in service' toward Bromley North. What diffenece between lost milesage and real time to shown on public mobile countdown when people know it going to be turn up!. However i find few bus drivers failed to do this job but no idea whatever he/she being told so by the control service from the bus garage? It very important for us like passenger want to know how long will the bus turn up without mess about with the ibus or real time!!! that the good questions!! Im not totally against them at all. Just wondering !!! Can't offer an explanation for the first one but with your "Not in Service" bus it sounds as though the driver did the blinds but didn't bother to log his MDT off running dead thus showing up on bus departure information as well as creating a whole load of work for the MTV clerk...

No not to my knowledge. Was going to post that this was being added back in but didn't get round to it. Probably mentioned already but noticed that the 'crew change' announcement is back on the buses. Today a 200 displayed "BUS WILL WAIT HERE WHILST DRIVERS ARE CHANGED". Has there been other recent changes?

Any chance of repeating that in a way we can understand? If you pay attention to 'lonmark's' posts you'll know why he posts in this fashion. Personally, I can understand him perfectly well Mark, much like Greeny I can't really offer an explanation for your first question. If the iBus is logged off for whatever reason (it really shouldn't be though) then the bus will fail to appear on Countdown, both at stops and on the website (and, presumably the other apps that you can use for this purpose) It seems to me that the iBus was logged off at some point between you checking and the bus arriving, since it was displayed at first and then disappeared on Countdown before arriving at your stop. I'm not entirely certain of the vaguaries of the iBus system but on the 269s in particular, the system will often go into 'Fallback' mode. Whether or not this takes the bus off the Countdown system, I don't know, but it could be one explanation for buses randomly disappearing and reappearing on Countdown If the bus was in service however, it won't go down as lost mileage. All lost mileage is recorded on our log cards for entry by the MTV clerk. As Greeny says, it just ends up being extra work for the MTV clerk!

Has there been other recent changes? Is it really necessary though? Passengers generally know the live changeover points and it can be assumed that a delay at one of these points is down to a driver change. I'm still going to look for it tomorrow though! ;D

One of the first I believe being tested was Southwark Station. I would suspect these are being rolled out where possible. I heard on a 133 yesterday: "Kennington Station alight here for Northern Line" with the same at Elephant & Castle and Borough Stations, also "Elephant & Castle, Newington Causeway alight here for Bakerloo Line". Is this a test? Can just imagine the broadcast for Kings Cross Station which has six tube lines serving there.

I don't get the idea of announcing to change for the Bakerloo Line at Newington Causeway .

The countdown screens/mobile phone data take real time bus info from the iBus system - if the bus isn't logged on, it won't show up. Like I said before, if the bus is showing on countdown but then appears showing "Not in Service" then the driver hasn't logged it off. Also Paul, it's announcement 12 checked this out earlier though I must say I don't think it sounds very professional.

This is also the case with buses off normal route or on a short term/ one off diversion where it isn't set into the iBus, it will disappear from the system until it's back on route.

I don't get the idea of announcing to change for the Bakerloo Line at Newington Causeway . The Bakerloo Line platforms are more or less underneath London Road junction with Newington Causeway, the Northern Line platforms are underneath the southern end of that roundabout.

I just checked one out... sounds very weird, almost too blunt in the way she says it.

They may as well put alight Kings Cross Station alight for Various London Underground lines and platform 9 n Three Quarters ;D
