It seems Quality Line's entire fleet of Optare Solos have faulty "Bus Stopping" indicators on their iBus systems and have done for a couple of months now, I've held off reporting but havent seen one working yet and most now have the bottom half of the iBus screen covered up. The buses dont clear the bus stopping sign once the doors have opened and closed, and on some buses this causes the route/destination announcement not to play either.
EDIT: The above is definately true for the fleet with the exception of their latest 09 reg buses, I've only been on one when it was on the 470 and cant remember if the stopping sign worked on that.

The reply from the ibus team was they want drivers to use the PA system more and more. The driver communications group that has been set up has been passed your comments. I will see if I can get any more positive feedback. Another suggestion from me - could we not have an announcement about offering a seat to those less able to stand?? No thanks to the wording on the priority seat stickers now reading "Please offer these seats to disabled people" (whose idea was that?!!) I am constantly seeing older, less mobile people standing whilst the young, easily mobile people sit comfortably in the "Priority seats" Whilst I can understand where they come from a lot of our passengers ignore the driver anyway hence why I suggested it. Thank you though Beaver for putting the suggestion forward

I was on the 37 this morning on my daily commute to college in Wandsworth. As we were drawing near to Clapham Junction, the driver played the following announcement: "Smoking is not permitted on London's buses" - or something along those lines. New announcement?
Then subsequently, the driver decided to play "CCTV is in operation on this bus". He played this up to six or seven times. I don't recall any passengers smoking on the bus, nor did I smell any smoke - unless the driver was suspicious of one of the passengers (nor do I see this as the case), or he was playing the announcement just for the sake of it!

No I think the smoking one, along with a similar one for drinking alcohol have always been on them, I've certainly heard them before along time ago. Regarding my mention of Quality Line's Solos above, they have since installed normal stopping indicators to all their buses again with the majority having the bottom half of their iBus screen covered over with black tape or simply a piece of paper.

I never use the PA system just as i wont use an answer machine i'll just shout and if they dont get the message then ah well never mind lol. we had a road show visit the yard a while back and took comments on the i-bus and revenue issues needless to say i raised the issue of there being no "turn that bloody music off" message, and that a few other messages are pointless. ie everyone knows its illegal to smoke on a bus knowing this do they think an automated voice is gonna make a difference.

What great customer service! I suppose you'll also not tell people that stops are closed (it's more fun just to drive past), that you're on diversion (that'll teach 'em for travelling on my bus) etc.

But it only plays after you are already on board, so even if you are blind you will have already had to have asked someone if it is the right service. I really cannot see what the purpose is of those announcements. In case like that, audio announcements could be installed at bus stops in addition to the new countdown systems that's to be installed over the next year or so.

I use route 65 regular and since the new Omnicitys have shipped in the speakers in these buses are quite rubbish the womans voice; sounds very strange and every single Omnicity I have travelled on has this problem. I think something needs to be done about this.
Does ELBG and Go Ahead: BT and Metrobus have this sort of problem with their Omnicitys.

The speakers on Metrobus's batch of Omnicities seem to be fine and the audio quality is slightly better than the older buses. The only issue I have with them is the volume as it seems to be considerably lower than most bus types, but not much of a problem.

Well a few weeks ago I watched a video of a Metrobus Omnicity serving Route 119 on you tube and unfortunatly the audio was incredibly low on the iBus

It seems to be all Omnicity's that are very low volume, as I travelled on one of Transdev's brand new ones on the 49 last week and it was the same as well as a Metrobus one I have been on on the 127 before. Its actually quite nice as its quiet but quite good audio quality, although if the bus is busy then there's probably no chance of you hearing it.

I have noticed more often than not that the Ibus public announcements on Arrivas' route 370 are very rarely used. I dont know whether this is a genuine defect on Arrivas enviros or weather it is due to the drivers refusing to sign on correctly to activate it.

iBus/Blinds Destinations
Route 2, 315 Blinds show 'Norwood Garage' iBus Currently show 2, 315 to West Norwood Should really be on both iBus and blinds '2 to West Norwood, Bus Garage' to be a bit more specific.
Routes Terminating at Canning Town.
For some strange reason Route 147 is the only Route to say '147 to Canning Town Station' all of the other routes just say 000 to Canning Town. I think somethings wrong here.
On some route destinations have station.
e.g. 249, 432 to Anerley Station 44, 77 to Tooting Station etc as the route actully terminates at the Train station.
There are many other routes out there like this which don't mention station and with Station it is more specific.
15 to Blackwall (Station) 212 to St James Street (Station) 000 to Stratford (Station) also Stratford will be 2012. Station added on will be much more specifc to travellers.
