Are you saying that the ibus is switched off on most of the 370 buses. If you are I would encourage you to get the vehicle details dates, times and either report them via TfL Customer Services or on the ibus section on here. I have noticed more often than not that the Ibus public announcements on Arrivas' route 370 are very rarely used. I dont know whether this is a genuine defect on Arrivas enviros or weather it is due to the drivers refusing to sign on correctly to activate it.

Just a suggestion that I thought of last night
I was doing a late shift and people were getting on the bus at 6 or 7 in the evening assuming the buses were free. After I corrected them they paid with no (well minimum) fuss but then after 23:45 people were getting on and still bleeping Oyster Cards
Would it not be possible for an announcement to be recorded along the lines of 'From 23:45 on New Year's Eve until 04:29 New Year's Day all buses, Tubes etc.... will be free of charge'
This announcement could then be played at semi-regular intervals over the iBus system in the days leading up to New Year's Eve
On a slight tangent, there didn't seem to be much publicity about the free travel this year. I remember going to work with my dad in the early 1990s and the free travel was sponsored by some big company and there would be adverts all over the bus announcing the times. I didn't see anything like that this year - unless I had my eyes closed! ;D

Paul It seems like a very sensible suggestion - and for that reason I suspect it would be completly ignored ;D only joking I will pass it on to the powers that be. I must admit I only saw the A4 notices for day routes running overnight - so not sure if any reference to free fares was mentioned on those. I know that normally large posters are put up in shelters in the run up to Christmas. I suspect that from what I have heard many people try and claim the free fares aspect - heard examples 9am New Year's Day in any case. I think the following message should be introduced on Ibus, maybe in capital letters :
DUE TO ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR, THIS BUS WILL NOT BE MOVING.
This might assist the driver in controlling the chavs. But, they are very thick, so not much will stop them. But, it may make other school students (if it occurs during school rush) to beat the culprits up (or just tell them to stop nicely ;D )

I haven't heard it for ages. only few good bus drivers do that!! I wondering what the problem for some people not bother to put the ibus message out?

I'm not a bus driver, but my understanding of the attitude of Mr and Mrs Joe Public and their 2.4 brat children can be summed up in one word. Cynicism! I am sure you have already read comments from drivers on this forum expressing massive frustation at the way SOME of the travelling public abuse them, even without any cause to do so. They are so hacked off at being abused, shouted at, spat at, threatened and even physically attacked, that the will to 'assist' these people has just gone. It's not right, it's not policy, but it is reality! It a lifetime's experience reponse!

You can rest assured that plenty of those messages have been played in times past on the 180/185's

It's not right, it's not policy, but it is reality! It a lifetime's experience reponse! Very true indeed. I was on my bus after school today right near the cab and a women pressed the bell but i noticed at the time the light didnt appear on the dashboard but did on the iBus screen. Just after the stop the light appeared on the dash no idea if the lady pressed it again and it lit or the iBus was delayed. Then the lady rushed to the cab and started accusing the driver and the driver clearly said the light wasnt on the dashboard but the lady was having none of it and started getting more abusive to the driver and being persistant in that she pressed the bell. Driver had the last word though Luckily when i press the bell ill look at the screen and the dashboard of the bus, if it is single doored that is
