I know some drivers on here serve the Bromley area. Ive noticed when buses approach Bromley South Stn you get a bonger in the cab alerting drivers of a low bridge. Why is it alerting for as the low bridge is in Waitrose supermarkets carpark which you have to go through pay barriers to access. Buses would never go down there so whats the point? Have you noticed this in all buses or just certain ones? I only ask because I don't recall having the low bridge warning go off when in the Bromley South area Like Madstuntman, the only low bridge warning I've had in a single decker is the one on Homesdale Road when running a 314 back from Eltham. Since it's arched and buses can only go through in the middle of the road, us stupid drivers need to be warned since we can't read the road signs The only other problem I've noticed with the low bridge warning is that sometimes it points in the wrong direction. On the 208s coming into Petts Wood from Orpington there's a low bridge on the right hand side on Tudor Way (we don't pass under it, iBus just tells us its there). But most of the time iBus tells us it's directly ahead rather than to the right

Paul,
I havent really paid attention to what buses/routes have the bonger go off. How ever i will have a look out in the future and will get back to you.
Its deffinately gone off with Scania Omnidekkas with Metrobus as the later 56 models has a CCTV screen in the bus which passengers can see and i can see the warning come up with an arrow so perhaps just Metrobus have it beeping for that one? Can garages add/remove bridge warnings?

Don't know if it's in the right bit of the board but hey ;D Have been thinking lately about these "Alight here for...." announcements (given we now have one on the 150's down to this diversion) and thought I'd float this idea. A lot of people get on the 150 wanting the Hainault Health Centre on Manford Way and ultimately end up coming to the end of the route before asking where it is. Was wondering if it would be possible to have the announcement for "Staggart Green" done to say "Staggart Green. Alight here for Hainault Health Centre." ?? Thanks in advance

I know that I few of these have gone on some routes. I will put it forward - trouble is where do you stop. Reminds me that Thames Barrier could do with adding on 177/180 etc as the father in law is always getting asked for that one. I will put it forward - trouble is where do you stop This is it There's probably at least two or three possible 'Alight here for......' on every route in London, more on routes going into Central London If you start adding all these, iBus would never shut up! ;D

What I would like to see is "this bus terminates here" actually being annouced at the penultimate stop saying something like "this bus will terminate at the next stop" then at the last stop it can also say "this bus terminates here". Reason being in many cases the annoucement comes after most of the bus has alighted ;D I will put it forward - trouble is where do you stop This is it There's probably at least two or three possible 'Alight here for......' on every route in London, more on routes going into Central London If you start adding all these, iBus would never shut up! ;D

Thanks in advance We stop in New North Road and the Health Centre is on Manford Way (route 462 territory) but people ultimately get on the 150 as well.

Said it from the start, as it is at present, on the N89 I normally hit the bus terminates message once I have gone past the penultimate stop, no real hardship, over than taking eyes off road to fiddle with the MDT somethimes I even get the timing spot on it plays the message right after she announces the stop ;D

On the 256 the other day the ibus announce "do not stand on the upper deck or staircase" - very good considering it was a single decker bus!
I can remember another version of ibus back in 1994 on the 101s through East Ham. I thought it was better because before the next stop announcement you heard a BONG! followed by - NEXT STOP, EAST HAM STATION and so on
The trouble with the todays modern ibus is that comes straight in with the name of the next stop without prefacing it so if your ears were not tuned in at the right time then you've missed it (and yes I am thinking of if you cant see the visual display)
So as a suggestion I would like a little bong followed by THE NEXT STOP IS.....whatever, it just sounds a bit unprofessional to just come in with the name of the next stop and not preface it, to me its a bit like some ignorant people on facbook who just come straight in with an instant chat message and dont preface it with hello how are you.

Considering the fact that many people dislike iBus i doubt people will be in favour off it going BONG every 2 minutes. Thing off long routes thats like 50 BONGS on one journey. People who use the bus every morning to get to work will get annoyed and many will want the system off which makes it pointsless to have. I think the system is fine and the moment nd there is very few situations where you wither cannot see the screen or hear the audio. Just think beofer the iBus was introduced you would just ask people or the driver. Im pretty sure that a BONG will never be added

Here's a little comment for you all to enjoy reading I was in Devon over the past 4 days for family reasons and had to use quite a few buses in Plymouth and Newton Abbot. Obviously not being local, I was in a position where I didn't really know where we were or how far away my stop was. Whilst there used a Stagecoach Devon express service, the X38, between Newton Abbot and Plymouth. Thankfully I knew where to get off in Plymouth, with my cousin, but the other way was more difficult as she had just moved to Newton Abbot and I knew nothing of the area. Both of us spent about 5 minutes looking out for a landmark for us to know where we were before our stop!! Ahhh the good old days!! I also did the same when heading to Newton Abbot station too, sitting on the edge waiting. In Plymouth, we used the 40 which had an E200 working it, so was easier to view out of, but still had the same problems of constantly wondering how much further we had!! So, to sum up, yes iBus is an incredibly annoying system when you know the route and use it regularly, but having used so many buses over the past few days without it, I really so the huge benefits of having such a system in place. It means you can relax and enjoy the journey without having to sit there and worry about missing your stop!!

Seriously, it is only when you travel outside of London that you realise just how good iBus really is
