Is the EL3 getting an extension? At Barking Riverside station there were tiles for the EL3 and on tfls maps it showed to be terminating where the EL1 terminates Two afternoon school trips run to Barking Riverside. Information for routes is available here : londonbusroutes.net/routes.htmThe strange thing is that both the EL1 and EL3 has Barking Riverside on the blinds despite terminating at different areas. It's rather misleading for someone who doesn't know the routes.

Thats an interesting development after 20 or so years of giving school extensions their own 6xx series number. 467, 406, K3, K1 have school extensions/diversions (the former at both ends), so not really the case. However most of the extensions are in Surrey.

There are plenty of examples where a single trip deviates or is extended to / from a school retaining the normal route number. I suspect such cases are at the request of the local education authority to provide for fairly small numbers of children who benefit from not having to walk to a more distant bus stop but where numbers are not sufficient to justify a separate route with dedicated provision.
Some of the 600-series school runs feed into out of normal routes as peak extras. The two 681 duties do so as just one example; if you happen upon a hybrid rather than a BCE on the 281 bearing the duty number FW341 or 342 (the normal series is FW1-18) you're on one of those trips.

Quoting myself but noticed the ELT LTs have / or had Barking Reach blind displays. Was this ever used for the EL3? if so when did they switch to using Barking Riverside. The long term aim is for the EL1 and EL3 to both terminate at Northgate Road, but for every other EL1 to turn short at Mallards Road. Barking Reach was going to be the display used for Mallards Road but it seems that has since fallen out of favour and Barking Riverside is the display used for both termini.

I’m sure this has come up before but can’t remember - is the 118 the route with the shortest downtime? 1hr 55min to be exact, obviously not counting the 123/158/486 or any 24hr routes.

It's beaten by the 490 at 1hr23. Haven't checked all of the Heathrow routes but they all have early starts (if they're not 24hr) in order to meet early shift times at the airport.

There's been a few times the route has finished about 3/3:30 due to late running buses (usually due to diversion etc) making it a 24 hour route in essence on those days, I'd expect this may have been seen on other non-24 hour routes around london but not as much as the 118.

Why does the B14 have such limited operating hours on Sundays I remember when the Sunday service was first introduced, it was Sunday shopping hours only. Appears they’ve decided not to change this at all

There always were 24-hour routes in all but name. The last 243 into SF was around 02.30 and the first out "next morning" was at 03.15 just 45 minutes later. Similar with the 29 at WN and numerous others. The 15 also came close with the last run-in at U around 02.15 and the first out just before 04.00.
