Probably a question our bus driver members can answer more than us ordinary passengers - on TfL school routes (i.e. 6xx series) is it mandatory for the kids to touch in with their Oyster cards or do they just pile on regardless? I know what the *theory* is - yes they should. I'm asking about what happens in practice. On 605 (under LS) and 606 the drivers never gave a d*mn from my experience, just wanted to get rid of the school kids as quickly as possible to have their quiet bus back

In another capacity i have actually spoken to a school headteacher about this and that T fL will only have numbers from children touching in and not a true passenger count. When the bean counters at T fL look at these route there may be a strong case to reduce the number of buses (the school in question has 7 buses over 2 routes). Nothing changed....

I know on the 686 students often touched in in the evening, however the drivers would often be outside talking with the teachers on duty. In the morning I'm not too sure but a few year ago a 686 journey was cut due to lack of patronage and all students who got the second 686 told to get the 86, kinda defies the point but there you go.

A question regarding photocards to anyone in the know I've just started uni and my 16+ zip is to expire last this month, however I don't turn 19 until March. The description for the 16+ Oyster is that if you're 18 and still in full time education you are eligible for the 16+ Oyster card. But I'm not too sure if I'll be accepted, the actual information provided by TfL is not very helpful. Does anyone know if I'll be allowed? Thanks ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Agree on the info on the TFL website is poor, I had the same issue, applied for the wrong (18+) Oyster and lost the admin fee as a result.🙄

Another question regarding Oysters ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Due to TfL's wonderful administration my new Oyster is running late, I plan to use my contactless bank card to pay for travel until it arrives but I have a habit of interchanging between Android Pay and my card. If I tapped in using my card and then tapped out using Android Pay will I still be charged correctly or will it see them as two separate cards?

Looks like you need to give a call to the Oyster contact centre as you will be charged maximum far on both methods

As Dom says the system sees them separately AIUI even if they are linked to the same bank account. Worse if you split touching in and touching out you'll be whacked with multiple maximum fares. Use one card consistently in order to ensure your fares are capped properly. From TfL website - tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/contactless/other-methods-of-contactless-payment

bigbaddom1981 and snoggle Thank you for your replies, much appreciated. Looks like I'll probably just leave my contactless card at home for the time being and stick to my phone ![P-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/pirate.png) Better safe than sorry

Does the 39 have a restriction that prevents it from being double decked? It's not bad at the Putney end but get to Wandsworth it's packed and vice Versa.

I asked this a while ago and somebody said there wasn't a problem, indeed the double decker 639 does most of the route. It could certainly do with double deckers.
