The Shenfield Metro will; as crossrail is basically duplicating it No, the Shenfield service will continue but in a reduced frequency, or possibly go back to the old format of having the all station Gidea Park service, with the Southend Victoria's stopping all stations to Romford then Ilford, Stratford and Liv St. I think the whole plan for the revised service is up somewhere on the Crossrail website The Shenfield Metro Service will run 6tph Liverpool Street - Gidea Park Only during Peak Times Only and will not stop at Manor Park (not sure why). Crossrail services will run Liverpool Street - Shenfield Calling at all Stations throughout the whole day (12tph during peak as well as GA and 6tph off peak). Some fast GA trains will also stop at Ilford.

Ratp dev are hoping to be put on tender short list for cross rail. This is according to their strategy document on their website. Given their growing expertise in light rail, i think this company is only going to grow. London is behind the times when it comes trams. Wouldn't be suprised if many Transport groups look at this. List likely to include Abellio (Dutch Railways) I think they also have Merseyside commuter franchise Go-Ahead group (who already have some UK franchises) First (currently have the Western bit out of Paddington) MTR (Hong Kong) are connected to London Overground (Laing might be a partner as well) National Express (currently have Eastern bit, line to Shenfield etc) Stagecoach (who have SW Trains) Deutche Bahn (German Rail has interest in one of the freight companies) Serco (currently have DLR franchise) Connex (pulled out of UK, but still operate services in Europe)

Abellio operate Great Eastern and West Anglia services out of Liverpool street

Abellio run the Greater Anglia franchise and are partners in Ned Railways with Serco who run Northern Rail and Merseyrail. Go Ahead usually partner with Keolis (part of French National Railways, SNCF). However they have indicated they might go it alone in future. Deutsche Bahn are involved in several franchises following their purchase of Arriva and also Chiltern Railways (buying out Laing). DB are therefore involved in Arriva Trains Wales, Chiltern Trains and joint partners in London Overground. Arriva also bought out the owners of Grand Central so also run the genuinely private, commercial trains to Sunderland and West Yorkshire. Stagecoach are also joint owners of Virgin Trains. I would say it was very likely that Keolis will bid (given the SNCF involvement in the RER in Paris). For similar reasons RATP Dev (who own London United, Epsom Coaches and run Metrolink trams in Manchester) will also bid or partner with someone else. I suspect MTR, given their experience with Overground, will be in a good position on Crossrail. I suspect they might have a queue of people wanting to be their partners on a joint bid for Crossrail. I would not be surprised if there is a bit of a battle as to how Go Ahead put in a bid - on their own or with Keolis. Keolis might go ahead with SNCF formal support. It will be a very complex concession and the service build up takes several years including taking over Liverpool St - Shenfield and Paddington - Heathrow (Connect) services before Crossrail opens. This is why the concession starts in 2015 rather than 2018. Date | Section | Notes | May 2015 | London Liverpool Street - Shenfield | Crossrail concessionaire takes over existing stopping service | May 2017 | Start of gradual replacement of existing rolling stock with new Crossrail fleet | - | May 2018 | Heathrow Airport - London Paddington (mainline platforms) | Crossrail concession takes over Heathrow Connect service | December 2018 | London Paddington (Crossrail platforms) - Abbey Wood | - | May 2019 | London Paddington (Crossrail platforms) - Shenfield | - | December 2019 | London Paddington - Maidenhead | Full Crossrail service |
Railway Gazette said that the ITT for Crossrail services also suggests options to expand the contract to cover services to Cheshunt, Chingford and Enfield Town. www.railwaygazette.com/news/passenger/single-view/view/tfl-seeks-crossrail-operator.html

Elaine Holt has joined ratp dev bid for this. With her expertise this will be a strong bid. A report in the evening standard suggested that stagecoach, first and Arriva are unlikely to bid. It is seen as a battle between MTR and RATP Dev

Apparently Siemens has pulled out of Crossrail trains bid
Apparently since bids were submitted they have won other work in Europe (including Thameslink)
