This weekend No Central Line from Liverpool Street to Woodford and Newbury Park. There no Bakerloo and Overground from Stonebridge Park to Watford Junction No DLR from Westferry to Lewisham Abellio was doing the Stratford to Newbury Park replacement service using LT’s, MMC’s, BYD City’s and standard Enviro 400’s with what looked like Sullivan Buses doing the service to Loughton

Is this rota'd in to the rota to have it off or do they work elsewhere as noticed today at Stratford and Leyton there were "CSA Trainees" according to their ID who work for a company called Transport Investigations Limited also on the buses I boarded one of these staff were onboard aswell ?

LU staff mostly stay inside stations, meanwhile an agency - Transport Investigators Limited (TiL) provide customer assistance at bus stops. LU CSAs used to do the job many moons ago!

Day off for most and getting paid for it. After all I have seen it many times some station on the rail replacement would be fully closed or have reduced staff levels. Also train drivers may not be driving either if it is a full closure

The Central Line rail replacement a Woodford was causing lots of congestion this morning. There was 4 may 5 buses at the Hillside Avenue stop meaning no cars could over take safely meaning traffic was backing up. There was also a bus stopped forward of the stop at St Barnabas Road making it very difficult to see the traffic lights and if was safe to move forward.
Not sure if it is usually this busy here when the Central Line is closed?

When I had dropped by a couple of weekends ago, there was only a single rail replacement bus waiting at the stop.

The Beckton to Canary Wharf replacement service is being hammed with standing loads. The 147 and 474 are also extremely busy as passengers use these services as an alternative. The DLR replacement services never seems sufficient for the loadings, I am surprised more passengers are not changing at Custom House to connect to the Elizabeth Line.

No sufficient ‘stand’ has been authorised by TfL for operators to use. CL-6 and 8 both use Woodford as a ‘hesitation point’ however with early running it causes congestion at Stop A.

Today’s DLR Beckton line replacement has been shockingly bad again. Really bad bunching and long gaps! Most passengers seem to give up and use local bus 147 and 474.
Does the replacement service have any type of controller on the ground who dispatch buses?

Does the replacement service have any type of controller on the ground who dispatch buses? There are and sometimes they will be on-site. The T service controllers tend to be at Barking for example. What I noticed from the weekend before is that the TfL staff at Canning Town with all due respect were useless in doing their job. You will find some of the pink hi-vis staff really proactive in their role whereas others are desperately hoping not to be asked anything. This impacts the timings. When a bus arrives I would expect that the staff will communicate loudly that this bus is for Beckton. Did not happen last week, as this person on duty was mingling around in the middle of the bus station. Then what happens is that almost every other passenger holds up the bus asking 'Where is it going?' , Is this the bus to Beckton? etc. Every bus that came while I was there was idle for 5 minutes and it was caused by passengers. Again some are very good but some are making up the numbers. I is a job I dont mind doing actually but I think they are mainly TfL staff that are volunteering for these extra weekend roles but I could be wrong.

This certainly explains why passengers were opting for local buses like the 474 towards Beckton.

The "pinkies" (that's what many call them) are from a private company called Transport Investigations Limited. They mainly deal with penalty fares on the railway but also provide customer service staff for TfL. TfL used to do this in house as voluntary overtime but this was stopped ages ago
