I believe it will be a few months until Cromwell Road Bus Station reopens if all goes to plan (the published timeframe is "Autumn 2024"). A frequency increase probably would put the buses in the wrong place for the school journeys as you say, but a short extension from WMH should not cause any issues as the current timetable has ridiculously long stand times at both ends. I believe the stand time is now just 15 minutes at both sides since Metroline took over. Clearly the current stand time is not sufficient for some trips as some trips are constantly lost due to changeovers and traffic. No it's 15 minutes on some journeys but pushing 40 minutes on others.

Routes 327 and W9 have been awarded to Metroline Both routes are on three-year contracts using existing diesel single-deck vehicles. The 327 contract actually starts this Saturday (!) whilst the W9 commences on 21st September. Stagecoach will continue to operate the W9 until Metroline takes over. PVR: 327 - 1; W9 - 8 PVR of 8 on the W9 makes you wonder when the last time Sullivan had 4/5 buses out on the W9 let alone 8!

Oddly the 2010 award (Metroline's last contract on the route) stated a PVR of 6, but the timetable at the start of the contract clearly needed at least 7 buses in service.

Haven't they? I thought some of the routes at UX were due to start a new contract this winter. No they haven’t. They UX routes new contracts do start in winter but no evs have been ordered yet. The U routes contracts don't start in winter, they commence from 26th October.

Looks like the end of an era at UX. With TE1749 looking like it come off service on the 24th, it marks the end of 35 year affiliation of buses operated by Centrewest running out the garage.

Wow so for the first time in the 11 years it’s owned UX, it’s now a fully Metroline garage with no remnants of First. (except maybe a few blind sets that could still be in use with the First logo?) It’s even beaten NP which still has a couple of ex-first WVNs running out of there despite it being taken over from First earlier than UX. (And even if many of its ex-First buses are still in use having been jettisoned off elsewhere)

Both DEL2157 and 2161 (the two with dayglo blinds including the first blindset) are at WJ. I believe EW have finished electrification works for the 251 and the route doesn't use those DELs anymore.

Seen in a few other places it's suggested to be WDEs for the 4, E2 and E8, BDEs for the 90 and 98 and Kites for the 153. Very interesting odd choices and completely backwards. WDEs (4) for the garage that already has and will have BDEs (43/W7) Kites/WSELs (153) at the garage that already has BELs (46) BDEs (90) for the garage that will have WDEs (83/297) BDEs (98) at the garage with Wrightbus/Volvos Like honestly who thought this up 😂 Unless there’s length restrictions affecting the 4/E2/E8, I can honestly see some retrospective switcharoos happening to make things a little more standardised, well as much a possibile anyway I think Metroline want engineers and drivers to be accustomed to more than 1 compatible vehicle per garage. Keeps us enthusiasts on our toes.

See its the usual Thursday TLB leak day on the forum. One week I might get to read the news first hand in print. LOTS provide details of the order but they don't have a crystal ball and can't predict delivery dates. If you know it's 'Thursday TLB leak day' and desperately want to read the information printed on some paper then surely you can just avoid the forum for a bit until you read it? There's no such thing as a Thursday leak day for me
