DD’s can’t enter it during the week because of a low bridge so it uses 214’s buses on Sundays. There is history, you need to go back to 1980s (when hospitals had set visiting hours), and other services on Sundays were much less frequent or didn’t run, to explain why a service had hospital extension (instead of running to stop outside the hospital grounds). It morphed (when it was known as route 97A) into single decks can get under the low bridge between buildings but there were only enough spare ones on a Sunday. I realise the 97A only extended to Whipps Cross in 1992, but thoughts about the network were more based on few years before (which would have been 1980s) than forward looking in those days IIRC the 97A extension on Sundays into Whipps was funded by LBWF then, they also had fund the W12 to be re-routed into the hospital and I think the later evening service.

Saves customers having to adapt to a new route first and then some time later adapt to only using fixed stops. It makes much more sense to do both changes in one go. It can make sense in some way. I was told by the guy who is in charge of the fixed bus stops told me the bus stops will be implemented in the first half of the year which could mean around June. Also I was told be people in GAL that the route has been postponed later this year. It makes all sense now. If thats so the route could be introduced around June. Bus stop works are planned along Willow Road between 22nd Feb and 9th April.

Can anyone confirm/deny the following rumour?
Apparently, the WHV’s on the 280 will move to the 80 releasing its single deckers to the 413. No mention of what the 280 will get.

You said previously you knew the person in charge of the bus stop installations, surely they would know the planned dates for the Firs Lane and Station Road ones?

Id say more truth in the 413 using buses from the 80 due to the fact tfl have already made clear its a contender for a DD conversion whereas there was no mention of the 164. Still seems more likely the 80 will release its SDs to the 413 as age wise they would be ok for another contract with the 80 gaining the DDs directly from the 200.

I predict they will eventually use the deckers displaced when the 63 transfers to Abellio.

I do think Sutton will end up being a likely home for the MHVs for the 80 and another route.

Regarding the 80/163/164/413, I can see both options being explored and the decking of the 163, 164 and 80 in future, all 3 routes are very busy and the new connection for 164 to Sutton Hospital is going to up the demand on the route. I just stress these are my views about the options mentioned above. Also by decking these routes it allows diesel diesel single deckers to be freed up for things like the 646, 413, could also rid GAL of non standard OMd they’ll be getting from the S1, the 463 can also take longer buses and GAL got rid of the WS that are on the 463 and reordered for the 192. Also any upcoming SD routes in their domain.

Also any upcoming SD routes in their domain. If this is the route they do go down, I do find it odd especially as the 355 has a part single & double decker allocation which currently has 9 single deckers, exactly the number for the current 413 routing and would limit the amount of transfers given the WS's reside at the same garage as the 413 will be running from. That way, the 80 could receive MHV's from the 63 at a later date and any extra single deckers needed for the 413's extension before then could be picked from other routes.
