I don’t think any area in London comes cheap nowadays!! It was reported once on here by a MG driver that the majority of drivers at MG garage lived in Kent and Essex, no doubt aided by the easy car access to the site via the A13/Blackwall and the A2. I’d be genuinely interested to see how many London bus drivers actually live in London. For example, they did a survey a few years back of Met officers and found that 56% lived outside London. That first paragraph shows why we have high car ownership. People live far away from their jobs because they can't afford to live near their place of employment. Employers don't pay enough for theirs employees to live locally, or rents are too high, depending on which side of the argument you want to take. Where trains are an option they are used, but noone is going to do a long distance commute via bus.

I knew a woman who started work as a Police Officer with the Met.. She was not allowed to live within the Borough that she policed (that didn't mean necessarily that she had to live outside of London, although she did buy a flat in Leigh-on-Sea). I guess there are high numbers of transport workers who live outside London to benefit from lower housing costs and prices, particularly in the railway industry. Rail workers of course have the added incentive of heavily discounted travel to work.

The garage capacity 175 and is on the DVSA website. What is currently registered and what could be accommodated are not always the same thing. I doubt that many, if any. drivers would want to transfer from BX to MG. I believe the 108 is planned to move from MG to NX and the 188 from MG to Q, so maybe one or both of these transfers will take place around the same time the DT routes move to BX and some of the drivers for the 108/188 will remain at MG and work the routes moving in.

Coming from Essex to MG will cost an extra £8 per shift once the Silvertown tunnels open.

Well it had crash and hasn't been active since 20th August I was wondering if was a write off? Given that August 20th wasn't that long ago a bus with that kind of damage is unlikely to return to service so quickly. Assuming it's repairable it needs to be sent away to specialists where the overall process could take up to a few months due to multiple factors, such as other buses ahead of it awaiting treatment It was back in June, it rear ended a bin lorry I think, but your points are still very valid, I doubt it would be a write off.

Operators will probably start to offset the cost for new drivers in order to prevent the job attraction from falling as a lot of companies are in need of drivers

Are they both likely to end up at DS? It was Blue Triangle, and I heavily doubt RR will take the SL4 so DS will almost certainly take at least one of them, probably both of them.

I think it would make more sense both routes to go to DS anyway, a larger pool of electrics and I believe it has more space available compared to RR which has taken on the 366 and 325! Though there was talk about the 147 leaving RR and going to SI, so perhaps this might still happen so that another route can go to RR, and the 473 could go to DS when it's mystery electrics arrive!

TfL has disclosed the location as Gallons Reach, they just haven't specifically said where yet. There have been bus cage markings on Magellan Boulevard for 2 years now, so it's likely to terminate there. They are only on one side of the road though, so buses would return via Atlantis Avenue.

Has it been confirmed yet that the 244,486,624,625 and 658 will be moving to Morden Wharf Garage is it because of the Fasttrack service temporarily.
