I would like to ask you all, what are your favourite bus routes in the surronding areas of London.
Some of mine in no particular order include: 250 (Debden to Waltham Cross via Loughton) 505 (Harlow to Chingford via Waltham Abbey) 541 (Loughton to Epping via Abridge) H1 (Loughton to Harlow via Epping) 59 (Harlow to Chelmsford) 242 (Potters Bar to Waltham Cross) 501 (Brentwood to Harlow via Epping)

I used to enjoy doing the 383 at GY (Ockendon Station to Basildon Bus Station via Grays) - I actually wish I could be doing county work for the money I'm on at DM

402 was a nice route, was strange seeing Prestiges in London (even though Arriva London had a batch years before). I also loved using the 420 before the Volvo Olympians were withdrawn as the route was quiet, even during the day.

I never really use routes outside London, but have to say the 614 between Queensbury and Hatfield has been pretty good to me in recent years, so I'd have to say that route.

I quite liked the 476, but since its been replaced by the 423. I also like the 421 (Shoreham Village-Heaverham), as it goes through some delightfull villages (Shoreham, Otford, Kemsing, Haverham), It's partially a mix of Old L.T Route 404, and old L.T route 421. ;D It has got to be a struggle wrestling a modern day bus through Shoreham Village, it was hard enough for the driver of an RF doing it last year For those of you that don't know the area, these buses are at the two termini of the route graham1740.fotopic.net/p36559100.html -Old Route 404 hertsmantransportbus.fotopic.net/p50606061.html -Old route 421

I used to love the 500 between Romford and Harlow. God the speed it got to sometimes was awesome, plus the struggle up the hills around Epping was quite funny too

Love the 331 (uxbridge to ruislip) but last bit of journey into ruislip goes through dozens of roads which makes me confused but its made up by the speed at which it goes on the country roads.
The E7 as well between polish war memorial and ruislip road east is flat out

47 from Catford Garage to Shoreditch, when will new buses be seen on this route? Whenever the tender comes up and only if it goes to a different operator.

I think 47 contract started January 2006, so ends 2011 (or 2013 if there is 2 year extension). Anyones guess what kind of buses will be in production by then.

I like two services on the outskirts of London: First the 5 from Southend to Lakeside because of the 25 minute stand at Lakeside and the long run on the A13 from Five Bells to the Orsett Cock. Secondly the Sunday contract 150 from Basildon to Lakeside via Stanford-le-Hope, Orsett, North Stifford and Grays. Which one driver described as "never have i driven a bus so fast, with no one on it, and still been late". And once as the lone passenger on it (trying to get a free Life on Mars DVD) going around Socketts Heath roundabout in the rain, the four wheel drift was fun . I had to hang on for dear life, it was quite fun i must say. Cheers PT
