No, the Versa is entirely different and replaced the Esteem. This helps it compete with the 9.3m length that ADL offer as a dual door option on the e200. It's a great idea when you think on what operators would look at the Solo as a viable option. I'm certain First and Metrobus would look at a dual doored Solo, possibly so would ELBG I agree with the possibilty of Metrobus and maybe ELBG being interested in it but I only see ops who don't purchase ADL e200s as the most likely customers. I also hear that there is a 10.3m VDL SB200 Pulsar in production as well though this could be just rumour.

If that's the case then i reckon Arriva might be a bit less keen on purchasing the E200 unless it was in the shorter form, much like after the Cadet/SB120 was launched, they just seemed to order Cadets

Although it was designed for country areas with narrow roads/lanes, its also appropriate for areas where parking both sides makes the road narrow. The Versa was designed as an 11m bus so is much heavier engineered (although the 3 operators in London took the optional shorter length)

I loved the Solo, i have to admit. Those that First had for the 193 were generally a nice ride, apart from the standard plastic seat with a little bit of fabric applied interior ;D The Versa isn't too disimilar to the Solo either, although aren't the ones on the R8 a Slimline 7m version or something?

I love Solos, travel on them on the 470 nearly every day, Quality Line's are great and have lovely comfortable seats, and although limited to 27mph they accelerate very quick and make loads of weird noises lol

They are a significant improvement on the crappy Sprinters they replaced ;D

Having driven down some of those lanes I'd hate to meet anything the size of an MPD- I can't imagine how far you'd have to reverse to let it pass Even the ubiquitous Range Rovers are a challenge to get past....

Saying that, a section of the 402 is extremely narrow (basically just one lane for traffic, including oncoming traffic) and that did use DAF SB220 Prestiges (now 10.7m Darts) not long ago.

Buses of that size do seem rather unecessary. From what I've seen and heard of the 402, it never gets that busy. Surely MPD's would be capacity enough, especially if they were single doored and therefore have more seats. The well-heeled denizens of Sevenoaks and Halstead seem to be rather too fond of Range Rovers, BMW X5's etc to use bus services. Sevenoaks is like a bus desert these days

Wrights offer this chassis with a Pulsar body on their web site, but I am not aware of any being produced ... always open to correction. The only SB180's I am aware of that have been produced have had the Plaxton Centro body ... but they number very few, and certainly none in London and the surrounding areas.

The SB180 is soon to be produced on the MCV body with a demonstrator built to London spec so they may be interest in this combination if all goes well.
