Tried out the "new" 404 a couple of days ago and one thing that struck me was the Tollers Lane estate which has been added to the route, an estate which I had no idea of its existence. Whilst it's a welcome addition to the route and I'm sure it'll gain patronage as there are a lot of houses round there, I'm amazed how it passed a risk assessment as the roads are so tight around that estate! In some areas, particularly on the circular section between Goodenough Way and Ellis Road. Parked cars can cause an issue, and if a small lorry or box van was to be parked on the side of the road could easily result in the bus being stuck and a code blue call being made. It comes as little surprise that the Tollers Way section is served as a loop section with the stops being served by the 404 in both directions

I noticed this while on a bus and it really annoyed me as well! The park has a 'lane' for cyclists that runs along the whole of park lane anyway, there's no need for a cycle lane, they can just use the park! The good thing is that it is a temporary measure and it will go back to normal after this virus nonsense is all over. Unfortunately TfL have lost the plot as have many boroughs. We are literally in an 'emergency' and we need clear head thinking and not knee jerk reactions. Changes need to be properly thought through and the consequences properly understood and the best choices taken. I get that we need to encourage people back to the West End now lockdown has been eased, but do TfL and the boroughs understand this properly. Whatever the rights and wrongs of 2m social distancing, and arguably it is going to be difficult to get the economy going again on 2m social distancing, it is a fact that this is what we have. If we are to have wide enough pavements to allow 2m social distancing to encourage people to come back, and make changes accordingly, we then have to think how people are going to get the West End? Buses and tubes are being discouraged, even more so for cars, so what are people supposed to do? Walk and cycle? Those that think that is the answer are in a dream world, never mind those who can't cycle or have mobility issues, many simply live too far away. Are people expected to walk and carry their heavy shopping home, or somehow balance their bags (probably unsafely) on their bike? The people who might be encouraged to walk or cycle at this stage are the office workers, but for the foreseeable future they'll be working from home. Now take Park Lane. I seem to recollect that it might just be next to a large park, Hyde Park I think!!! There's already a cycle path in Hyde Park between Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner if I remember correctly. Would it not make more sense to expand this to cater for cyclists. They would be safer and surely the route would be more pleasant. Surely it would also provide a nicer walking route? That is how I would have dealt with Park Lane, leave it is it was and use Hyde Park. To get the economy going we need to get London and the West End open and this isn't going to do that. The changes to the congestion charge will restrict business and the economy as will changing roads like Park Lane from three lanes to one. If normal traffic comes back, it'll be queuing to get around Marble Arch or Hyde Park Corner and onto Park Lane. The bus lane won't particularly help because the problem buses will have may well be reaching Park Lane in the first place! I wonder if we'll see a relatively empty West End simply because people can't get there so easily. Now don't get me wrong, I am not against cycling and walking, far from it, I want to encourage these modes of transport, but not at the expense of everything else. It's perfectly possible not just to encourage cycling and walking, but to do it without it being solely at the expense of other means of travel. It's called balance and looking at the whole picture and consequences. For me London remains closed, and will continue to do so while tubes and buses remain a discouraged form of transport. As for being a temporary measure don't bet on it. I get the impression those in power want it to stay, it is only temporary because they can't make it permanent quickly enough given the consultation etc that would be required. An interesting observation I noted yesterday was the increase of traffic on Effra Road likely as a result of the recent restrictions put in place on Railton Road & St. Matthew's Road which have effectively made it near impossible to drive around Brixton for those wishing to do so. Usually, even in rush hour pre Covid, Effra Road wasn't too bad to navigate yet yesterday, traffic stretched right up to the zebra crossing - now if traffic increases further, this will begin to effect buses trying to enter the bus lane which starts just after said zebra crossing. Like you, I believe these to be permanent features no matter how many times TfL or councils say temporary - I mean why have a tree in a box by the bus stops in Brixton then if it's only temporary.

After being in lockdown for almost 2.5 months, i was really suprised and annoyed to see whilst driving around hyde park corner, The A4202 Park lane which once used to be a dual carriageway, 40mph speed limit, has been reduced heavily to 20mph with one lane for cyclist, one lane for buses, and another for normal road users. Surely TFL are just doing everything they can to make life more annoying and harder for drivers. I would understand 30mph but 20 is ridicolous. Buses do not even travel at that speed I noticed this while on a bus and it really annoyed me as well! The park has a 'lane' for cyclists that runs along the whole of park lane anyway, there's no need for a cycle lane, they can just use the park! The good thing is that it is a temporary measure and it will go back to normal after this virus nonsense is all over. I do think these type of measures are surely part of TFL’s long term plan and they do have a bit of habit in the past in being super cycle frenzy and less on other mode of transport. What annoyed me was whilst we was trundling at 20, the cyclist to our left going quicker than us. Roles have reversed. Now there is I believe no room to overtake as cars are subjected to a single pane northbound. I haven’t been southbound on Park Lane yet

I haven’t been southbound on Park Lane yet I was driving over tower bridge on Sunday and got overtaken by cyclists on both sides. I kept space to the left so that cyclists can go through safely but half of them decided to overtake from the right side while I was moving in traffic (and with cars coming from the opp side plus cyclists to my left...). Also one cyclist from the opposite side decided it was a good idea to take a short cut across the pedestrian crossing at the northern end of the bridge right in front of my car .... Too many idiotic minded cyclists out nowadays to be honest. Makes the rest of us who want to cycle just chicken out all the time

I did a few miles cycling today and apart from getting wet it was all good.

R means a break for the driver during the duty F means end of a driver’s duty That's what I was initially thinking, using a bit of common sense R would be 'Rest' and 'F' would be 'Finished'. Just had to ask to make sure. Thanks No the 'R' is for Relief as in meal relief

No, it was a silly fake update you made to spread trouble here! Just like the screenshot of supposed emails from Stagecoach management you claimed to receive. PatheticđŸ™„ They post tender notices on the Blink app at Stagecoach I think rather than as letter notices now anyway. I was wondering how it is sent out, also does every garage get the notice? Maybe I'm being ignorant but would a driver at AF be interested in Go Ahead wining the 184. Usually sent out via email to various garages manager and supervisors to print and display in the garage itself.

This all feels familiar, that’s all I’m gonna say about that Indeed, I've noticed that him and with all other of his alias that he is always being fed on the upcoming tenders such as with this week results plus as usual taking obsessively about the 55 & 56 tenders. It was also previously the 48's on how its service was etc.

TFL should not be running buses and should focus on what theyre good at which is trains cause the amount of cutbacks/route withdrawals/stupid stuff they do peees me off like for example they removed a Direct route from east london to central london to 'remove traffic' or some bullcrap like that (btw im talking about 48) They remove the rv1 for no good reason and because of that the WSHs were withdrawn a year later(so much for a 'greener London') they also add so much rubbish to the roads like for example park lane and yeah bike lanes are good but theres a park literally across the road but of course in a time where they need money they spend it on that instead of spending the money on bringing services back to normal or something better they do that and dont get me started on the cutbacks they do to routes like for example they cut back the 4/67/45 for no good reason the 4 was a good link between islington and the south of the river the 67 is basically a useless route your better off taking the 141 then the 236 and the 45 probably the worst cutback of them all paired with the 4 and the 23 speaking of the 23 they cutback an iconic route from westbourne park to liverpool street like they shouldve at least let it terminate at moorgate or something but naaaaaaaaaaa tfl move it to hammersmith when you can just take the 295 and be there in 15 mins but tbf the one of the best changes they have made is to the 390 its a better route towards victoria i think tfl should just stick to trains cause at least they run them good or they should remove this so called mayor of london cause all hes done is just ruin the bus networks and added nonsense to roads that isnt needed they say they try help 'relieve traffic' but theyre doing the complete opposite

Deregulation? A new public executive? Be a bad idea. TfL isn't just good at trains, it's a world leading authority in most areas. Everyone loves to knock it, and yes there's a few flaws but by and large it's very good - people come to us to see how we do it. Our tube is by far the best large metro out there. Splitting up TfL would not be helpful for anyone and would lead to a more fragmented, and henceforth poorer transport network - which wouldn't be helpful at all for a global city like London. As for changing routes, the harsh reality is that bus networks must be adapted to suit changing needs - everyone does this, everywhere, it has to happen - unfortunately some historic routes are changed but it's vital we have a bus network fit for purpose that's efficient. The pop up bike lanes are also a very low cost scheme and deliver quick tangible improvements - I think they were funded by central govt actually rather than TfL so blame them for not supporting buses instead or as well as (they haven't been supportive enough) As for removing the current Mayor of London, you have that opportunity next year if you are eligible to vote - it's called an election

I agree. It wasn't viable sadly. Originally it had corporate sponsorship when it started but after this ended, plus road remodeling schemes kicked in it just wasn't viable. Plus, Covent Garden/Tower Hill is doable by bus still, as well as by walking & cycling with a much quicker journey time - even walking along South Bank at peak times would be quicker than a end-to-end RV1 trip and much more enjoyable depending on the weather.
