You must be driving something very big and expensive for such high insurance! Mine is almost half of that with 8 years no claims 🤔 @stevenevill Get the theory test book and make sure you learn every single question. Get someone to test you if tou can. Get the CD and practice the hazard perception bit on your computer. Do that for a couple of weeks then book in your retest a few weeks later or whenever you feel ready. For car insurance, shop around for quotes at Go Compare, Money Supermarket, Confused, Compare The Market and Quidco. If you shop around you can save hundreds of pounds. Good luck! Without going off topic too much I drive a 11 year old Ford but living in a rather dodgy E postcode don't help as it sets off alarm bells at Insurance companies Lol I probably won't a get a car for a while after I pass my driving test. My future wife drives and has a car so I could get insuarance on that.

But what if your future employer wants you to drive an LT? I think you previously said you won't set foot on one? Really dude? Really? Is this not a breach of rule 2 of the Forum Charter? Err......but it is relevant to the topic being discussed.........dude!!

Yes I did say that but you have to be professional at work at all times so I would try to negoigate with my manager regarding the LTs or ideally go to a garage without LTs😯 If you think you can walk into any workplace making demands like that, particularly when you’ve next to no experience, think again.

Very true vjaska. Thanks for the advice.

You haven't given him any tips whatsoever, so not sure how your comment was related to what he was requesting. I think I'll stop here before I start breaking the rule too

What do you mean issues? If it's just drivers then shouldn't be a problem. If it's with managers then they still might appreciate your enthusiasm. Also Stagecoach pay rates are much worse than Go Ahead's, especially overtime rates. I had a few issues with drivers only when I was younger. As you say hopefully it won't be a problem. I know Stagecoach pay one of the worst but I have a strong passion for them since age of 4. I worked for Stagecoach because i thought it was the better company but after almost 4 years i quit and went to Go Ahead. Go Ahead pay more, less hours and pay you hourly. Only grumble is GAL are stricter.

Hourly AND weekly. After monthly pay for the last 14yrs it's great. Were able to save money now, and earning more helps aswell.

Yes by the book, Stagecoach in the last year have brought in a 38 hour week paid start/finish minus break similar to GAL but Stagecoach pay less and i think they still work off rotas that are 40+ hours?

Stagecoach also only pay you a flat rate for a rest day (£90 for new drivers, £140 on top rate IIRC) whereas GAL pay very competitive overtime rates by the hour. £20 ph +

By the book doesn’t sound like the end of the world though. Without knowing the specifics of what that entails* it just makes GAL staff sound like they need to be ‘jobsworths’. And as someone who used to self-identify as one myself I honestly can’t see anything wrong with it. * my curiosity invites me to ask specifics but I would also caution anyone who gives these about the potential of bringing the company into disrepute and the consequences for it... especially if you can be identified!

"There is a new 'TfL route' to provide a larger space for wheelchairs, meaning that the seat totals are being reduced on some batches. This seems to apply to new build 9.75m and 10.9m E20Ds thus far, the first to be affected being the newest E20Ds for RTP. Nothing has been said yet about altering existing buses."

Big shout out to the numpty route 300 driver that decided to just indicate and pull out from a bus stop in Prince Regent Lane around 4pm today without even looking in his mirrors! I was already half way around the bus and was left with nowhere to go as he took up the space I was about to move into
