I’m afraid the biggest issue is an awful lot of cyclists in my experience are rude, inconsiderate and selfish - and worse, they have been in recent years emboldened by high profile cycling campaigns and a general pro-cycling, anti everything else (including pedestrians) agenda from some high profile people. For me, you start a good transport policy with what is the most popular mode of transport. Walking. We all have to walk (or use a wheelchair or similar) at some time. Then look at public transport. Then worry about everything else. And try to do it without antagonising anyone else. Road Mice. Do not follow the highway code. Want to be treated like other road users except at traffic lights and crossings. Undertaking traffic and not overtaking and then other road users get told to look out for these mice when they are illegally cycling as undertaking is illegal. Should all have License plate and insurance.

Hmmm, trying to change the subject eh. This is typical what all cyclists do, whenever anything is directed at them, they take a punt back at motorists to avoid the subject. Its like me going back to say the person who got mowed down by a cyclists crossing the road in Dalston, if the subject was talking about cars speeding or knocking people over. Fact is, many cyclists get into a lot of altercations and near misses with pedestrians. Asking for more police is like thinking I would win the euro millions on Friday, unlikely to happen. As I have said before, when a pedestrian never assume you have 100% right of way even when you do; because you never know what may happen next.
Not changing the subject at all just putting things into perspective, there are good and bad cyclists just as there are good and bad drivers. It's in cyclists own interest to avoid collisions with pedestrians as they are likely to be injured and many such incidents are caused by people on phones wandering into the road having not seen or heard an approaching cyclist. lol, can you not do a post that is against cyclists to always be sticking up for them or pass the buck onto the motorist. I agree there are a lot of numpties on the phone walking wondering into the road, but I have seen more near misses and hits with cyclists vs pedestrians due to the cyclist blatantly ignoring a road rule.

I'm not sticking up for anybody just putting things into perspective, many cyclists are probably drivers as well, do they suddenly change from reckless idiots into considerate law abiding people or vice versa? I don't think so.

Their protester/demonstrator attitude to everything is why they get noticed. You do not get cyclist go on as much as they do in the UK in that manner. Many of them just troll post bomb many news articles, consultations when posted in their online cyclist forums. You can see this whenever an article is done on a news website and the comments it draws at times hit record levels compare to any other subject. They also falsify consultations in their favour. www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/16902346.flawed-mini-holland-expansion-consultation-raises-concerns/?ref=ar
We would get the bicycle was here before the car. But they forget the horse was there before the bicycle, but we do not get horse lanes etc. Maybe we should get stables in central London to accommodate more horse parking and horse lanes.

Licence plates and compulsory insurance would be completely unworkable, despite advances in technology with ANPR cameras there are still a considerable number of motorists driving illegally. Again I just don't get this vendetta against cyclists when there are just as many bad drivers around and a motor vehicle will do far more damage that a pushbike in a collision.

Was you not supporting ANPR type average speed cameras last week. So I am not the only that realise that it doesn't entirely solve speeding, as too many people with false or cloned plates out there.

No I'm not particularly in favour of average speed cameras although I suppose they could be seen as a necessary evil but obviously anybody driving a car that isn't legally registered isn't going to worry about them. They're no substitute for a police presence.

I don't think it would to be honest. Anything using the road should be taxed an insured and be made to sit a test. They rather buy a camera and film other road users doing illegal things when they themselves are guilty of such monstrous things. When I'm in slow moving traffic there will be no nearside passing space for these cyclists. Very Rarely do I see a Cyclist overtake they undertake which is illegal. A Cyclist once tried to undertake me when I was pulling into a stop then had to cheek to throw insults at the window. You have a point some road users do not follow the highway code and are daft. These Cyclists I find are the worst. I've also seen Cyclists illegally hogging the road preventing other road using from passing and you wonder why some road users go on the wrong side of traffic islands to overtake these road hogs.

Some cyclists are just the WORST. I am sick of them running through red lights - when there is a GREEN MAN on the crossing.
This morning on my way to work: Cyclist on the pavement getting frustrated because I was blocking his path. (He wanted to cycle next to his buddy and he had to move to the road). Get in the sea. Crossing the Mall - a cyclists swoops close to me when I am clearly crossing the road on a green man. On my way back from a meeting - I can't even reach the end of the crossing before a moron decides to swoop right behind me. Yes, on a green man. It's not like I'm looking down on my phone not paying attention to anything. I look both ways (The Mall has cyclists come from behind the pavement btw). The only things I should be looking out for are police cars/ambulances/fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. And these things have bright shining beacons and loud ass sirens. Sure there might be a moronic driver on a hit and run but I can see it pretty clearly and won't cross the road until it passes.
RED LIGHT MEANS STOP FFS. I have gotten into arguments with these inconsiderate cyclists and they have the gall to get mad when I point out their mistake.
All these cycle lanes seem to be undersubscribed. I remember all the work we did in the bus schedules for the Mini-Holland scheme in Walthamstow. Return to Walthamstow recently... it's not exactly well used, to put it mildly. I did the new 425 route with a friend just this week - quite a few on the road itself, but hardly traffic on the well-made CS2. I can see why people are protesting CS9 (the Chiswick High Road Superhighway).
If you follow the rules of the road and stop at red lights though, I have no beef with ya.

Since they've put the cycle lanes I've only seen 1 cyclist properly using it in about a year, and now they have the cheek to extend it even further with the new works carrying on until November. Routes 191, 279, 349 and 491 are in a mess cause of the traffic in the area, with 191, drivers are coming in usually about 15 to 30 mins late for their breaks or finishing during the day and I imagine its a similar story for the other three routes.

I must say the recent orders of single decker MMC's coming with the Voith gearbox are starting to be very boring, I wonder whether there will be a change back to using the Allison or ZF gearboxes. Out of interest Allison are coming out with a 9 speed variant box. Not sure whether or not this could tip future single deck orders in their favour. Would be interesting to know what the gear ratios will be like as I imagine gear changing habits will be different from the six speed variant MMCs. www.route-one.net/articles/Allison_announces_nine_speed__box
