Were the led's part of a trial or was it that blinds were'nt available like the new H2/3/631 Solo's They could certainly have fitted blinds as the body was the same as SP1-15. My guess is that it wasn't planned to be in London for very long, and they wanted to demonstrate it to non-London operators as well, so fitted it with LEDs.

Feeling very emotional tonight and trying not to 😢. A book of my school day photos have finally been delievered to me as I lost them on my old computer.
I'd like to share my bus experience with you all. I have loved buses since I knew myself from the age of 5. I'm in my early 20s now and still love buses which I think is a good thing. I always had a love for Stagecoach and ELBG although at a young age I could'nt identify that. I always loved their buses and grew up with TAs as that is all they had till late 2008.
My favourite years of buses was definately till 2008 cos I went abroad to a special school for a couple of years and came back to London in 2010 Summer and a lot changed with the company. Whilst I was away Scanias came in service, the good thing is that I liked them straight away as T got them for the 48 and 56 my locals in December 2009 was the 1st time they entered service cos I came for a holiday.
I loved the "all" the routes at T till end Nov 2009, when the 69 changed garages but I didn't know back then. I began to know buses inside out from around 2012, following tenders and etc.
This is gonna sound silly but I loved it before 2009 when there was no Ibus announcements for some reason, but IIRC Arriva got it in late 2008. I loved that all of Stagecoach and ELBG was ALX400/200. The roads were better back then, less traffic and no crappy cycle lane works. I loved it when I would get a TA with red poles as the majority and all today have orange poles. I loved it that Stagecoach and ELBG were so big and doing very well.
I used to beg my uncles so I could get on their bus as one of them at the time worked at the old SD garage in Waterden Road doing lates only and I loved to be out at night and still do. Wish I had a time machine to go back to my school days.
I always had a thing about SE London and would come to Lewisham for a trip with my grandad. He liked buses a lot and travelling. And look now I live in Lewisham. Learnt that life has a lot of suprises and unexpected things happen. I also had a thing about going through Hackney Mare Street at Night then through to Whitechapel on the 106.
My special loved routes pre 2008 in the company:
T - all of them SD - all of them BW - all of them BK - 145 and 369 NS - didn't really use often but would be 296 U - all of them
PD - 96, 99, 122 & 472 TL - 47 & 136 TB - 208
I think the Bus types and network has become more modern but for me as an individual you can't beat the old days with old buses like my TAs. My uncle says I feel this way cos when your a child everything feels sweeter. Thoughts on that?
That's it for now. I'd like to hear from others about there school years bus experiences. (If my post is not appropriate I am happy to remove it😄)

(If my post is not appropriate I am happy to remove it😄) Broadly your uncle is right. Most kids have little to worry about and can indulge their hobbies and interests in a way that becomes difficult later on as we all take on more of life's responsibilites. It is, though, all about perspective. Not everything in the "old days" is great and not everything now is awful. There is little point wallowing in nostalgia all the time - it's really not helpful. The odd reminiscence and fond look back is fine and wholly appropriate. The few people on here who somehow endure my Twitter feed will see my music related tweets - some of those are tinged with memories. And let's face it - buses are not exactly the most crucial thing in the world and I say that as someone who's been interested in them from childhood. Inevitably memories are jogged if you see people from your past or go the places you visited as a child etc. However we have to live in the present and cope with whatever life brings us. I wouldn't want to wallow in my childhood memories as I think that all these decades later I'm a better, more self aware and educated person who's hopefully learnt a few of life's lessons - sometimes painfully. I'm a long way from "perfect" (whatever that is) and am trying not to turn into too much of a "eeh the old days were the best" grumbling old git who dismisses all of today's reality (good, bad and indifferent). You're still pretty young and should have plenty of life to enjoy. Make sure that you do - you only get one chance and don't fret about the buses. End of lecture.

(If my post is not appropriate I am happy to remove it😄) I totally understand what you mean @stevenevill. As a older person than you, please take my advice that I will give to you now or sadly you'll be banging your head on the wall and constantly be living in the past saying phrases like "I wish this was like this" or "Life was good then and rubbish now" etc. From my own life story I can comfortably tell you that your uncle is right, and I can say this as I was a child once upon a time and the majority of years felt like a golden plate for me too. I won't be able to give you a good explanation like snoggle did but all I will say that there is not a single word I disagree with in his lecture. Best thing that a young man in his 20s should do is focus on doing well and enjoying his life. Not saying at all don't look back but take a holistic approach at things that you feel/felt and remember. For you and I'm sure many other bus enthusiast the network was better before 2008 for example, but what is important is that there is no time machine to go back and I gurantee you that if we could go back it wouldn't feel as sweet because you have grown up. Appreciate that you had those good times with buses as some others can't due to personal circumstances. Buses are not terrible now, look to the upcoming route changes in your area or over the capital, lots to be excited for☺. Don't dwell on history and this is hard but try not to even think about it, it's done and dusted. Don't let your emotionals control you. Instead you control them. Trust me I understand it's not easy but this is really nothing to stress over and not a genuine problem. That is the end of my lecture.

It's really tough for me sometimes, I sometimes don't talk to anyone all day cos am upset about life and the past. I was in love living in Lea Bridge Road till the LTs came on the 55, but I totally went cold for the area when the poo Helland roadworks started. I have really started to enjoy life much more since moving to Lewisham therefore I thank God for blessing me to move out of Waltham Forest. I know we can't go back in time and nearly everyday I live with the past. Will do my best to try and move forward. Many thanks😄😄😄

My uncle says I feel this way cos when your a child everything feels sweeter. Thoughts on that? That's it for now. I'd like to hear from others about there school years bus experiences. (If my post is not appropriate I am happy to remove it😄) i grew up in S.E. London with buses and even the last of the old double-deck trams outside my front door when very young. I loved and feared the trams in equal measure, but I somehow knew even at the age of four that they has to go. Boarding trams in the middle of the road at places like Eltham Church and Lee Green with the burgeoning traffic couldn't last! A few miles down the road at Woolwich were trolleybuses and as soon as I was given the freedom (a lot easier in those days) i got on a bus or cycled there to see them, but I either didn't have the money or had a cycle in tow, so never actually got to ride on one of those BX trolleys, which I've always regretted. This was early 1959, and trolleybuses on the other side of the Thames at North Woolwich were still operating, but I knew their days were numbered, so took as many chances as possible (basically once or twice a week for a couple of hours) to observe their operations. Even then, I only managed to actually travel on them up the Silvertown Way on a couple of occasions. Anyway, getting to the point (at long last) I knew these particular trolleybuses out of Poplar and West Ham depots were going to be the first to be replaced by the new production Routemasters and i was OBSESSED by Routemasters, spending hours up at Crystal Palace Parade waiting for prototype RM1 to appear at a time when it was the only RM in service: i soon got wise that, being a Cricklewood bus, it only got to CP on every second journey from Golders Green, and Norwood Garage might be a better place to wait: again, I never actually travelled on it, just gazed inside when it was stationary. So, you see my conflict? I didn't want the trolleybuses to go, and saw much less reason why they should than with the trams, but I loved the modern too, and a little later on I embraced the Swinging Sixties with joy, in my own small way, much preferring it to the stuffiness of the 50s. It's difficult, why would I want a return to the killer smogs, or have nostalgia for a trip home from school once which involved the conductor walking in front of the bus with a flare for the last few miles? True story, I assure you. Now we have modern trams, mostly not sharing road space with other vehicles, and they are an important part of the transport mix in countries which manage to have coherent transport policies. That doesn't mean I want to see them running down Oxford Street, but maybe if that was the only surface transport allowed there, I guess I'd change my tune. You'll learn in life (I hope) that things are rarely black or white, which makes especially specious 'the sun shines out of everything the European Union gets involved in' against the 'get back controls of our borders and then we can sign all these wonderful trade deals' fantasies which have and will impact so greatly and negatively on all our future lives. Always do what you thing is right for you and the people around you at the time. There you are, ten cent philosophy, gratis.

Rumination about the past will just have you going around in circles - One thing that is really easy to do and can be done anyway even on a bus is mindfulness breathing exercises they really help keep you focused on the present.
Enjoy today's buses because even in a years time I am sure things will be very different to now.

It was something like please take caution when exiting the bus or something. I can’t remember exactly Did it play regularly like the "Please hold on while the bus is moving" announcement, or did the driver activate it? I have never personally heard the "hold the handrail" one on a bus before, I wonder in what circumstances they would use these announcements? Maybe it's a new thing for the winter season so less people slip over when exiting the bus

I can’t remember exactly It’s almost like the “mind the gap” one hears nowadays on the DLR. it’s fine on he central at bank; on the dlr it’s annoying ... I am awaiting hearing complete legal disclaimers at each tube station from now on!!!
