My lappy has 4GB of RAM installed on it. My PC (with Vista) has 2GB... It's worrying that in practice the new laptop isn't working as Microsoft intended. How much memory is it running??

That shouldn't have any speed issues at all then My Vista laptop runs 4GB worth of RAM and is normally pretty quick... So much for Windows 7 being faster

Exactly my thoughts... though it's just the booting up and shutting down that's a pain; otherwise it runs smoothly. My lappy has 4GB of RAM installed on it. My PC (with Vista) has 2GB... Must admit, i'm very very close to ditching IE now. It's been causing nothing but problems for me recently, constantly crashing and "not responding" resulting in it restarting or doing nothing at all, meaning task manager has to be used

Thats how IE works, by crashing and all.

Downloaded Chrome over the weekend … might give that a go. Anyone any expiernces of this browser?

Very reliable and stable. Edit: I have had some problems recently but I put this down more to computer issues than software.

I only use Chrome occasionally and find it to be very fast in starting up (quicker than Firefox), and I've never had it crash on me. However I'm told by others who have used it that it's not that great - why, they haven't said I still stick to Firefox mainly. Downloaded Chrome over the weekend … might give that a go. Anyone any expiernces of this browser?

Well i've taken the jump and gone over to Safari to see what it's like. Also found out that my university have Firefox on their systems, so may have to see what that is like there ;D

It's much, much better. Only problem i have though is that it doesn't work quite so well with my T-Mobile dongle, though that could just be the fact that it's T-Mobile ;D

Once the contract is up I think I'll go back to O 2.. Glad you find Safari to be OK though! I found it better than IE when I was using Windows. On a slightly topical note I have now got an iMac and I do wonder why I didn't go Mac sooner! It's much more stable and secure right out of the box; the applications are much more use for what I use the computer for (again right out of the box!) and technical support for anything from Apple is literally an e-mail away! It's fantastic.
