Have any of the Mac users made the switch from a Windows based PC to a Mac? (Or have you all been loyal Mac users?) ;D Reason I ask is that I'm considering an iMac to replace a THIRD unreliable Windows based machine (in just over 2 years I might add!) and was wondering how easy people found it Any feedback is welcomed

Oh no you haven't! Windows 7 was only released at midnight last night. Even the 'demo' copies sent out to beta testers were only shipped from the states last week! You are either a b*llshitter, or you do NOT know the difference between Windows Vista and Windows 7! Either way, how can anyone trust YOU on anything to do with computer opinions?

I've used an iMac in college a few times before. I know very little about it, but I have to say that it's much safer and stable than the PC, plus its pre-loaded software is quite remarkable. Not sure what kind of flaws there are, but all I can say is that it's significantly pricier than a 'top of the range' PC. I knew I should've waited a little while longer... Otherwise I would've sampled a taste of Windows 7. From all possible sources that I've read, the numerous features (especially the XP mode and BitLocker) are a very promising improvement from the Vista.

I have heard that Mac's are much more stable and secure which has kind of swayed the decision. My old XP machine and 2 Vista laptops have had OS problems AND hardware failures (strangely just after the warranty runs out ). I use Apple Safari on my windows PC (and have to say I prefer it over IE8) and apparently if you know iTunes you know Mac so that's a start.

Either way, how can anyone trust YOU on anything to do with computer opinions? excuse me, are you questioning someone who has built his own computer from scratch, been around computers since 5 years old, knows the difference between PC's, MAC's and linux, and someone who is actually doing a A2 in ICT? Do you actually know what the i5 is without looking? what about a Asus PT6 or GTX275 or even what Fermi means? windows 7 was released last night, but if you search google windows 7 RC you'll see that MS released a Beta version of the software about july time. Now if I ask you how much you know about computer it might be the opposite of me. Also please dont use that tone on me as I have done nothing to you or said anything rude or bad. just because of your opinion on the rude driver, doesnt mean you have to use that stance on me especially when I clearly stated that he was at fault for being rude NOT driving off. please think before you post next time.

Please read WHAT I said before you try to blind everyone by chucking in all sorts of unconnected terminology. HAD you mentioned the beta version in your original post, then mine would NOT have been necessary. WHY are you briniging the content of another thread up here? Perhaps because you cannot sustain the accuracy of my last post? The fact that I questioned a statement you made about the availability of Windows 7 (NO mention of beta versions in your post) was in NO way connected with my opions expressed elsewhere on boarding matters. It is YOU who are trying to camoflage matters here!

I am not camouflaging matters at all but I just don't like your attitude towards me at all. I assumed someone who criticizes someone in what OS they have would know that windows 7 had a beta released. I read before I post and use common sense. there is no need to unleash a complete rant to someone when the person hasnt done anything at all and is merely talking to the thread starter.

You are really BIG on attitudes aren't you? First it was the bus drivers who wouldn't wait for you, NOW it's me. What IS your problem here? A large chill pill seems to be the order of the day here! ;D ;D ;D

Now now gentleman. I asked for people's opinions on the switchover from PC to MAC not an argument over who knows more about computers. I know enough about them myself and I also know mine is starting to annoy me... I've attached a copy of a screen from it showing an error message - somebody PLEASE tell me how Windows Vista can be partially incompatible with ITSELF its one of those things, all software can have these problems, but that is quite funny ;D

Typical bloody Vista if you ask me!! I constantly get at least one occasion where IE decides it's gonna crash on me and not work, yet on XP i rarely suffer anything like this (except at uni where the system just overloads ;D) I've also heard from my mate, who used a Mac on his uni music degree, that they're pretty overated compared to a Windows unit. This is a guy who designs his own websites to the same sort of standard as TfL, Tesco and various other big companies ;D Personally, i would try out Windows 7 or go back to XP. In fact, i might just get a new laptop full stop soon with 7 on it

I never had any problems with XP as it goes but that just seems like a huge step back now.

Might go down to Comet's on Sunday and see if they have any laptops fitted with Windows 7 so i can try it out, then go next door to Argos and buy it ;D
