Yes, they were at Waterden Road SD base. Also, they crept up to WA quite often too. They were suplanted by four high roof LDV minibuses, which although second hand to ELBG were in immaculate condition. i think all four are (or at least were) at West Ham.

Probably the same style LDV vans that the other ELBG garages have for their engineers i take it? I always loved Stagecoach, they really were above the rest for performance and vehicle maintenance (excluding PD) IMO. I've never experienced them outside of London though, so can't compare probably, whereas i can compare NatEx, First and Arriva. I've had the (mis)fortune to ride their services elsewhere and hopefully i'll soon use Go-Ahead in Plymouth when i next go down there

I used to visit Hull a lot, and the local Stagecoach operation here has about 20 of the early ex ELBG Tridents from Leyton, plus a number of midi M--reg Pointer Darts cascaded into Barking from Stagecoach Oxford for the 366/368 group of routes. Both types are still going strong in Hull and are a credit to the local Stagecoach company, which has to be on its toes to keep up with the former Routemaster operator, East Yorkshire Motor Services.

Definatly loved Stagecoach in London. Nice livery inside and out, and always seemed to be a good service (im my experience). I do think they went slightly overboard with the ALX400 though, even if it is one of my favourite bus types. In fact, my first ever model bus was the Stagecoach London ALX400 on the 15 to Paddington. I have heard MANY different rumours about how they might return to London. Obviously they are probably made up, but I do sometimes hope it will come true lol ;D EDIT: I came across this 2004 picture of ex-Stagecoach London T671KPU with Stagecoach South Coast on route 712 to Brighton eamonnsphotos.fotopic.net/p44234881.html

Well, they had some sort of inside dealings with Alexander/Transbus/ADL so could them at a discounted price, hence the standardised DD fleet of ALX400's

Wish these S/T regs would come back

Other differences are the height of the vehicles and the staircase. Plus no rear window (apparently due to the height), higher seating capacity, front wheelchair ramp rather than rear, spiral staircase as you stated, bench seats and a different interior layout to that of 17099 upwards. Definately the best batch of Tridents ELBG/Stagecoach had

Had the same engine so were just as powerful, just couldn't see behind you

Just depended on which ones you got and what driver you had. If you wanted loud, 17137 was the one. You really couldn't hear the person next to you talk, it was incredible
