It's been announced on another thread that HCT Group was won the contract for school route 616, from Go-Ahead London, to commence on 6th February 2021. Two new electric d/d (type yet to be determined) will be ordered against the contract, but these will be allocated to route 20 with existing hybrids operating the 616. I do wonder if they will end up on the 26 and 388. I would have thought central London routes would be more suitable. Speculation alert but if allocated to HK they could bid to retain the 26 or 388 using electric deckers in the future. If we are going to speculate, I expect the 26 and 388 to be HCT retains on the basis of existing vehicles next time round. HCT has a young fleet and their next electrics will either be a new tender win, or will be s/d for the W5 and 309.

I wonder if one of the two new electric DDs for the 20/616 will be the BYD/City demonstrator they trialled?
If so, this could be a similar tactic of using ex-demonstrator electric DDs for school routes, to Uno's bid for the 692/699?
Have there been any other BYD/City demonstrators that HCT could acquire alongside?

Go-Ahead had that demo since January at NP which they used it to type train their drivers for the 212 takeover that happened in March. I don't know if NP still has LF69UXJ now that the most of the Ee's has been delivered or entered service at NP.

Looks like my prediction might be right of using this demonstrator as one of the two electrics for the 616 bid. Are their any other BYD/City demonstrators that HCT may have also acquired? Given that these won't be used on the 616 in practice, I still wonder why HCT did't choose to just send a few hybrids to the 616 from HK and introduce a few electrics on the 26 or 388.

Or the demonstrator could be at AW purely for driver familiarisation and product evaluation purposes. In order for HCT to decide what type of electrics they will order for route 20 (against the route 616 award).

You missed the memo. The electrics will be ordered against the 616 contract but used on route 20, with the 616 being allocated two of AW's E400 Citys each day.

I don't think he has as he mentions that in his post and is merely saying why the two new electric buses couldn't be used on the 26 or 388 rather than the 20.

Hello I was wondering what happened with the bus fleet number 1338. That bus hasn't been seen on the W19 since late February.

Oh alright thank you for this. Have all the other buses for the W19 (former tower transit buses) been refurbished yet?
