Speaking of the W5, it'll be interesting to see what buses it gets, as I expect it to be new electrics despite the TBC award. I would expect Switch Metrocities but interesting times ahead. Funny enough, I literally had a conversation about this few days ago. They will be receiving electrics and will move to AW. It should be the Metrocities similar to the 322. Don’t expect them to appear anytime soon/transfer to AW as still waiting on Abellio’s order to be fully done. Gone for the Metrocities as only option available. ADL are in the process of designing a smaller version but could be next year or two before it’s made. While it is the only option available at that length, the W5 has often used dual-door vehicles from the 309, so I wonder if 9.7m BYDs were considered? I suppose a similar situation to the 322, where longer vehicles do fit, but TFL likely specified for single door SDs only.

There is more I wish I could say but probably nearer to the time

Which area of London do these buses operate? HCT main operations are in the Hackney, Walthamstow and Chingford areas. This counts from the two garages they operate from which are AW and HK respectively. They also have a decent presence in the Woodford area from the routes they operate out of there existing garages.

It has now been reported elsewhere that CT Plus Yorkshire and Powell's will cease operations at 17.00 today (Friday 5th August). They had been working with the service commissioners in West and South Yorkshire to try and find other operators to take on their services and secure employment for their drivers.

Although the 2 are unrelated, it is of some concern that this happened at the same time as Bournemouth Yellow Buses collapsed. I felt mildly assured to find out that it was Rotala who offered to buy Midland Classic. My initial hunch was that the owners had run scared but thankfully this was not the case.

A post on Facebook states Stagecoach have taken over ops at HK ? If true, not at all a surprise. Their said to have been struggling for a while after some accounting issues a couple years back. I had wondered how far behind Yorkshire the London operations would be. Interesting times with the sheer consolidation taking place in the TfL bus market lately. Raises a couple questions. What happens to Walthamstow - surely they'd sell the two together. I'd also add that the guy who posted that on Facebook is normally very on the ball.

I know it’s not confirmed 100% yet but “if” Stagecoach have taken over HK could they possibly move the routes into LI? Would they really need another garage in east London?
