The only problem i have is the fact that they refurbished the 315's in a very bad pink interior!! It was ONE that refurbished the units.

Either way, operationally, i have no problems with National Express, just the peop;e that use the services they offer ;D

It's been announced that the preferred bidders for the Greater Anglia franchise are now as follows;
Stagecoach - East Anglia Trains Go-Ahead - Eastern Railway Limited Abellio - Abellio Greater Anglia Limited
Looks like it's bye bye to National Express and hello to an interesting period for the franchise with these 3 operators in the bidding process!!

Would like it if Abellio or Go-Ahead got it wouldent mind stagecoach just would of though that they would have come up with better names Like Stagecoach east anglia or abellio Great Eastern Or Go-Ahead Eastern but still hope who ever wins it will do alot better that National Express Who were crap up running train,We might even get some new tains For a change Getting fed up of thease 321's and 315's 317's Dont mind the 360' s because they are relible fast and have air con,Would love if they could get some more 379's for the shenfeild metro That would make my Year lols

Seems like a good place to reveal that National Express has been given a 2 year extension on the c2c franchise - the end date now being 26th May 2013. This comes from an internal c2c letter posted in the drivers waiting room on platforms 5 & 6 at Barking TBH i dont mind about that because they actually run a good service most of the time and have nice trains

Oft, i must admit i do like the 315's as i've travelled on em' for the best part of seventeen years, they still have it in them which is nice. - The ONE refurbishment was slightly gharish with that shocking Pink, if any company takes over i doubt they'll get a refurbishment with the arrival of CrossRail in a few years time. The best livery for the 315's where the NSE Toothpaste and the FGE Livery.

Try using them for 25 years and having your dad drive them for the best part of 15 years I hate the bloody things The 321's for me are the perfect unit from the pre-privatisation period. I honestly cannot think of a bad thing about them. The lack of air-con isn't a problem, it just adds to the sense of a day out to the seaside for me TBH, National Express haven't done a bad job with East Anglia at all. From my own experience of using GER under both First and NatEx, I can honestly say that NatEx have done a better job. It's just a shame they did what they did with the East Coast franchise otherwise I doubt we would be having this very conversation. If I'm honest, I would be happy with either of the 3 bidders currently. Stagecoach I'm sure would do a fantastic job of running the franchise. Go-Ahead could be interesting, as I use Southeastern quite alot too. I personally think they get too much of a bad press, but I haven't ever used them in the snow ;D Abellio will be a complete new experience for me. In fact, do they have any franchises currently in the UK??

In fact, do they have any franchises currently in the UK?? Seeing as i live on Metro, i rarely get the opportunity to ride the 321's; although 321's sometimes operate a service or two to Gidea Park in which a guard is stationed in the middle of the 8 car operation as the 321's cab layout prevents a head out what the 315's are capable of. The 321's motors sound decent when they're thrashed but as i've stated my rides on the 321 come few and far between. As for the propsed bidders, Go Ahead/ GoVia do a good job on the WCML with London Midland, South Eastern's reputation has increased following from predecessor Connex who where absolutely shite in terms of reliability, albeit i'd love to see something like Network South East NSE to return; I miss them old Bing bong announcements, The old livery in and around the stations and the toothpaste liveries on the trains. Abellio, seeing as they currently hold MerseyRail and Northern Rail 50% Shared with Serco, i don't know what to make of them seeing as them two TOC's i've never ridden or experienced; in terms of refurbishment will it be similar to the Abellio Buses seen in london?

Yeah sorry meant 360 and yes the 315's are a good train but being a bit fussy they don't have air con there refurb does look bad with the pink there compressors are almost dead and loud and rattle not that fast but there old so they have had a good life but time is moving on and we need new trains,The 321 are a great train bit slow on acceleration but they move there motors are quite loud but still good train but looking a bit shabby on the inside the new National Express Distress ;D livery looks good on them. When we had snow almost no problems other than the 7:45 metro to LST arrived at Romford at 12:37 on one day but the trains ran because we have overhead wires ;D thats the only reason that part of the London Overground And southern and Southeastern is they are all 3rd rail and snow + Ice +3rd rail Train = not going to work nothing wrong with the trains I think stagecoach should get it as they Should Be Great at running the service but on there website it says it will only be a short term contract

Stagecoach do a great job with South West Trains, during the snow there was very little, if any disruption to most of their services, IMO they are quite good at responding to events which are out of their control, for example when there was an attempted suicide at Waterloo Station earlier in the year, where 8 platforms had to be closed in the morning peak, some services were altered to terminate short at Clapham Junction which meant that disruption wasn't as bad as it could have been. As for Go Ahead, Southeastern are OK but from using their North Kent Line services alot IMO theres plenty of room for improvement, the ticket office at Belvedere station is rarely open at it's advertised opening time, when the service is disrupted it usually takes many hours for it to get back to schedule and the tatty trains (the 'refreshment' of the class 465's only appears to involve the replacement of the cushion covers and the update of the DVA's, when is the last time these had a decent deep clean ) As for NXEA, I've used them a couple of times, one earlier this year from Walthamstow Central to Liv St which I think was a 315 or a 317, and the carriage which I sat on had one of the inter-carriage doors missing which meant it was quite a noisy ride, and I certainly wouldn't pay extra to sit in the first class area!! The 321's are quite nice and fast though

I thought NXEA were given a stay of execution. Any operator that can get rid of these d*mn Class 315 and 317's gets my vote

Though I will miss hearing the 317's passing Northumberland Park with their noisy motors.... (I'm in the house @ the time when I hear this! ;D ) though I can't wait till the 315's are gone - I want to shoot the interior designer who chose PINK for a colour scheme -X Seen on another thread the 379's are starting to appear - I wonder how many NatEx will deploy before they are shown the door?
