Speculation should be limited to the dedicated speculation thread. This is the main RATP thread. There are not only enthusiasts on this forum but also those that also work in the industry such as drivers and those who work in company offices, where rumours and speculation may not be wanted on the main thread, especially those that could unsettle and cause concern for their jobs. This is also why I didn't agree with the Tower Transit bashing and rumours of it selling up - frankly it was not only uncalled for but imagine the staff and drivers, some people who may have no control over how their company is run seeing a forum of people just bashing them. Some people disagreed with how Tower Transit was run but it went way too far in terms of speculation. People are entitled to their opinions on Tower Transit and providing theories about them selling up etc are kept in the speculation thread I don't see any problem.

In practice the only shorts that I have seen on the 117 towards Staines in recent years have turned at what Metroline calls Fordbridge Park (some may remember it as Ashford - Dog and Partridge) but Abellio calls Ashford Woodthorpe Road. The turn from Church Road into Woodthorpe Road is pretty tight. I know that the 203and 203 did it years ago but the junction has been altered since then. The actual bus stand flag still says Dog & Partridge from memory! Generally the stand is only ever occupied by school buses during term time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a TfL bus on that stand. IT does (or at least did when I last checked!). I have seen buses stand there occasionally but in practice most (of the admittedly few I have seen) have simply gone round the roundabout and headed back to Twickenham (290) or Isleworth (117). There were a fair number of short workings on the 117 whilst the rail bridge at Feltham was closed a couple of years ago. Oh, and my earlier note should have referred to the 203 and 203a.

Oh of course they are entitled but some people overstepped the mark and some stuff spills out the speculation thread. Am in agreement with you

Just speaking hypothetically, it's called speculation! That’s what the Speculation thread is for… in addition those are currently Hybrid Contracts until they leave. I doubt TFL would allow a temporary downgrade to diesels… Routes 49 & X140 are immediate takeovers and the buses have LED blinds and are already in the process of delivery do the Mathematics… According to this photograph flic.kr/p/2mcN79HThat has a FW garage code though

That has a FW garage code though Ever heard of loaning... ? Also buses often have wrong codes because operators couldn't be bothered to change them...

But either TfL are mandating it as a part of their enhanced specification or RATP have got a good volume deal given this is a major order of 195 buses with the displays, and that they aren't common or garden displays either.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the first four delivered hang around at Fulwell for staff training and familiarisation - I imagine RATP will want all the staff there to be trained.

My mate said he saw a BCE driving around Kingston last week so I’m guessing type training is in full swing.

What partial conversion to hybrids before the Tower Transit contract? There are three LTs at AV currently with driver and engineer training being undertaken - the 111 will be moving over to LT operation at the end of August… Interesting confirmation. Suppose too early to say, but should those extra LTs remain with RATP post the 111 loss, it gives RATP more flexibility with either converting a different existing route, or using them on a new contract later in the year?
