Yes, true. But RATP would have gone to all the trouble of training up AV for LTs just for 7 months. Suppose time will tell. It would make strategic sense for RATP to try and keep them somehow as they at least can be used on a new tender submission. There could be other wider factors at play here As an example suppose the LTs could go on another route eg H98 (and I suggest that simply because H32 and H98 will be only routes remaining with SPs), I don’t even know if they would pass a route test RATP could have a shortage of staff after gaining 49, 117, 125, X140 etc resulting in excessive overtime, and by simply shuffling rota so no driver does 50% on 111, they don’t need to lose anyone to TUPE when they lose 111 (if don’t work majority of time then not eligible for TUPE) The 97 also operates with Scanias and nothing stops that route getting the LTs either in this case. If the 111 gets LTs from other operators, wouldn't be surprised to see these LTs move away from RATP once the 111 leaves. They could even become the refurbishment float batch.

I've heard from a reliable RATP employee that the 111 converts to LT with LTs from RATP, Stagecoach and Abellio. Appearantly it's in relation to TfL wanting to keep emissions as low as possible (and as soon as possible) around Heathrow Airport, this being possible with LTs due to be surplus. Once the route contract ends in April the LTs are once again redistributed.

But there is no reason to suggest the electrics could be late. Operators like Go Ahead have been able to put theirs on newly won contracts without delays so presumably this will be the same. Yes RATP has a huge order outstanding but ADL has three sites across the country where things can be shifted around to prioritise new operator contracts for TfL rather than retentions.

Could be easier said than done if there a contractual penalties for missing delivery schedules.

Seen posted in a few other places the 49 can't take 10.9m BCEs, does anyone have further information on whether this is the case?

Whether or not they are late depends on how quick the 30 buses are ordered and the manufacturers backlog From memory at ADL Apart from the 195 buses for RATP London Stagecoach has 25 for London, 22 for Aberdeen and 24 single decks for Perth + Kilmarnock First has 126 buses for Glasgow Abellio has 29 for London route 63 Arriva has 22 for route 319 Go Ahead has another 18? Then there is 198 E500s for Berlin and various small E200s orders which will all be using factory space and probably others that haven’t thought of (isn’t there something for Coventry, Birmingham, Oxford etc)

Am of the understanding a whole other load of slots for BYD/ADL buses have been booked up ahead of the announcement of funding for zero-emmision buses due later in August.

Birmingham are getting hydrogens next year; not sure on the electrics

The batch for NP were delayed from memory whilst when the 69 batch were ordered (along with the single deckers for 184 & 484), ADL were nowhere near as busy as current so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the electrics, if the 111’s are ADL, turning up late as most across all manufacturers have been

If this is the case the BCE's will probably be sent back or to another route and they will have the shorter 10.3m variants, now avalibale, like on the 393 should the 10.9m buses be too long. I am sure there would have been a company announcement to employees so perhaps the people in the RATP industry know what is happening?

The only problem I can think of on the 49 is the left turn from Fulham Road into Sydney Place. I would have thought a test drive would have been done in one of the 94 batch?

If true, they won't send the buses back and the situation, again if true, isn't the same as the 393 as the 393 was always specced for the buses it eventually received, there was a mix up somewhere that resulted in the incorrect buses arriving.
