They haven't been withdrawn, it was confirmed on here that they are having openable windows fitted before returning. There has to be something else, all 6 have been off at least 10 weeks (one hasn’t been out since June) Either the windows are not available, or there was a policy change that caused them to be taken out of service. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to wait 16 months after start of pandemic to decide that opening windows are required (although TfL sometimes make weird decisions at unusual times) Might just be coincidence, but they are at the 5 year age point, where there is normally a lease break point (but they might not be leased), and now they effectively have access to the spare Tower Transit fleet, do they still want the VHRs, especially with all new BCEs entering service, and spare LTs looking for homes. The MV's off the 13 would fit perfectly: The cut reduces the PVR by 9 3 DNH's are allocated which will have to move to the 414 Therefore 6 or 7 buses will be released; perfect for the 698.

I refer everyone to the answer given earlier - they are simply awaiting the fitment of opening windows, which have to be specially fabricated. Expected to be back in service by the end of November, on the 698 and X140 as contracted.

I'm a bit confused about what's happening with RATP's allocations at the moment, why has the 148 partially converted to BCEs as I thought it had been retained with LTs? Also why have LTs gone to the 111 and where have its SPs gone?

I'm a bit confused about what's happening with RATP's allocations at the moment, why has the 148 partially converted to BCEs as I thought it had been retained with LTs? Also why have LTs gone to the 111 and where have its SPs gone? When RATP gained 49 and X140, they were short of new buses. Couldn't use new BCEs on X140 as chargers not ready, and some road alterations need to be done before can go on 49 So as S had chargers converted part of 148, releasing LTs to 111, releasing SPs to 65, releasing VHS to cover X140 Should all start to untangle soon, once X140 can convert to electric

The 111s YT10 SPs went to WK and FW garages to cover for VHs which are temporarily being used for the 49 and X140 contracts at S and SO until their BCEs are ready for use. LTs are also allocated to the H32.

S is currently the only garage capable of charging a large number of electric buses, so that is why some are temporarily on the 148, so other vehicles could be reshuffled to take up new contracts. Believe SO is due to go live imminently.

Excellent news with wins of 226 and 295 with electrics.
Lots of options for allocations now with the space at X.
2022 will be another exciting year for RATP and a nice result after the loss of the 111.

Big gap at AV too but not really sure what could move there from the inner garages - unless you moved the E3 or H91 from V, but V has plenty of space I gather so could probably absorb the 295 or something like the 440 (as well as 283) without anything leaving

Given the rate of electric delivery at the moment - what price Scania's on the 295 for a bit .............. ?

Given how many manufacturers have committed new models to the UK market we should see more breathing room for orders coming. RATP flooded the main supplier with a very large order but that seems to be being fulfilled well. As we’ve seen in the past with operators like Go Ahead putting electrics into service for the first day it can be done but there is currently too much demand and not enough supply which will balance out once the RATP order is completed.

But Fencers, if they use the same chargers as the OE's, maybe the 295 could be the first route to be electrified with Scania buses?

It speaks volumes too that the the other operators are happy to have their orders delayed from ADL rather than go somewhere else and have them on time. I’d imagine the best hope of any other electric bus manufacturer getting a significant order from a London operator (ie the biggest market for new buses) would be to develop a bus that is compatible with the ADL chargers.

The issue is more so getting permission from BYD to do so, why would BYD allow another manufacturer to use their chargers when it could take competition away? The next few months in terms of electric bus orders will be very interesting for sure to indicate where the future is heading.
