Latest I'm hearing is that Park Royal will close with the routes reallocated to other garages - and Wandsworth kept open for TfL routes. Personally, I can't see this one, but it is does have a degree of plasusability what with development in the Park Royal/Old Oak Common area and the extra capacity offered by Westbourne Park. I've heard something else on the lines of JE is closing and is being sold off by RATP.

What I suppose could work is the 295, 414 and C3 going to JE, the 220 moving to S, the 18, 70, 226 moving to X, the 224 and H17 to CP and the 266, 440 to V. But again, can't see it happening. If anything you'd mothball a smaller garage like V or JE (TfL work), like has been floated about with the latter

I only heard that JE was losing the 28, and that it would still have the tour buses - can't see much to be gained from selling it as it is a listed building nor likely to be suitable for a modern industrial unit either.

Personally I think RATP should try to hold onto to their Park Royal garage. Although long term I would expect new routes or expanded existing ones to come about from the massive redevelopment of Old Oak and the Park Royal area in general and in my opinion it would unwise of RATP to bail now, especially if they can claim a piece of any new or expanded routes in the area. But that Park Royal site when combined with the former adjacent Makro site are prime land for a few hundred even, potentially, a couple of thousand flats so it’s a toss up. Leave now whilst they are able to shift things around with the spare space or wait and potentially have a much harder time.

While RATP could possibly use the space at V and X, RP is useful for gaining routes around the Wembley area, particularly as the Sovereign garages are at full capacity. I don't see RP closing any time soon, but if it did, where could the 223/224/258/H17 move to? At the very least, RATP would need a smaller replacement site somewhere nearby. Having to move routes to other garages also limits possibly gains in the future, perhaps already the case with EB and JE.

When I looked into the plans for the land around RP, absolutely no mention of there being a bus depot there presently, or in the future. pee poor planning I’d say.

The 148 is set to use diesel-powered buses through to 2026 at least so can't see why the 220 couldn't run from there, also with diesel buses. The electrification thing is a aspiration not a concrete pledge

Could it be possible that once HH is electrified that the X140 gets moved to HH and the 258 moved to SO.

Could it be possible that once HH is electrified that the X140 gets moved to HH and the 258 moved to SO. I'd think it very unlikely given how easy it is to operate the X140 from SO comparatively, frequent service bus from garage to the terminus to ferry drivers starting/finishing, presence of rest facilities at Harrow (none at Heathrow to my knowledge), the need for ferry cars at HH, the significant light mileage that'd be incurred as most trips start at Harrow. Just doesn't make sense, but who knows

RATP will become the 4th largest TfL contractor in 2022.
