337 could run out of Brixton garage as Brixton is not too far from Clapham Junction? Yes but it wouldn’t happen as Arriva don’t bid for every route going unlike other operators. With respect I don’t get this argument. You’re saying it “wouldn’t happen” but who’s to say they wouldn’t just because they don’t bid for every route?

Because there is evidence of Arriva not bidding for routes in Brixton that ran minutes from the garage so I find it hard to imagine they’d suddenly bid for one from Clapham Junction. If you look at Arriva routes in the south, pretty much every single one runs close or past the garage in question. Abellio & Go-Ahead are more likely to bid for further away routes from their own garage

Yes but it wouldn’t happen as Arriva don’t bid for every route going unlike other operators. But then they do bid for strange routes from time to time. Even though now operated by London North, the current route 19 contract was won by London South from presumably BN. But having said that, London South garages were not as full then as they are now, so maybe don't need to look as far afield. Imagine inner North London is where they are having to be more imaginative currently, maybe East London. Would never of had the 202 down as a route Arriva would bid for. The 19 ran out of BN before it was lost to Go Ahead when BA closed. Crystal Palace only down the road from N so no surprise. If for example the 3 122 227 or 363 was gained I would not be surprised.

But when it was rewon, was awarded to London South and said to be from BN. But in the end was operated by London North, AR. I agree about Crystal Palace, but London South seem to stick to routes that operate in quite a tight area, do not know if by choice, but the 202 is a lone Arriva route going deep into another operators territory, which is most un Arriva LS like. This is why I would love to see them get the 57, spread there wings westwards, but not expecting it.

N have run the 410 as well in the past so not everything is fully in a tight area. 333 goes to Tooting no other Arriva routes there apart from the 249 however that goes to Tooting Bec.

They also forgot the 319 also serves Tooting Bec. Indeed though I think the main point being made is Tooting is not your usual Arriva operating area compared to Go-Ahead for instance

South of the river Crayford, Dartford & Tulse Hill is the only areas served by multiple buses they do not operate. (Excludes areas served by 1 bus)

Admittedly routes 157 & 410 go both east and west of Croydon. In this sense these are in ideal Arriva London South territory. Route 333 passes BN. Route 249 crosses the A23 at Streatham so is similarly appropriate for Arriva. I can see how route 176 stays too far east to be a natural Arriva route.
