Not directly relevant to the late delivery of the Tempos, but yesterday Optare announced an order for Manchester which includes 12m Versas, previously longest was 11.1m (of which only Quality Line has some on a TfL service) As versas seem to come in 9.7m, 10.4m and 11.1m I could understand another 0.7m module taking it upto 11.8m What I'm thinking is if the versa is a lot cheaper than the aluminium tempo, would many companies go for it where TfL requires a 65-70 seat bus (but where a double decker can't be used or routes which carriy many who wont (or cant) go upstairs) www.optare.com/pr_21_03_11.htmany thoughts ? NO single decker bus has 65 -70 seats, you mean 65 - 70 passengers.

NO single decker bus has 65 -70 seats, you mean 65 - 70 passengers. Whilst your point (about the count being passengers rather than seats) is most correct, your bit about no single decker having 65-70 seats is wrong. Where I am at the moment (Canberra) we have single deckers with 69 seats. Of course they are 18m long and bend in the middle. We also have some single deckers that don't bend in the middle that have 57+ seats, these are 14.5m long and have 3 axles.

Some Lynxs and Leopards were upseated for school contracts and there are some schoolbus Enviro 300's with similar capacity, think with 3+2 seating.

Right, you NEVER quote anything from that site EVER. This is an official warning over this. Check your info out first before posting!! I will post when they actually arrive, hopefully the first is expected in about 10 days subject to Optare pulling their fingers out. We need the first one to do proper type training instead of the demo vehicle being used at the moment, which is a different spec. The first Tempo is due to arrive in the next few days (poss tomorrow)

Your original post said 'No single deckers' which is why I've mentioned the Enviro 300 and Leyland Lynx in my original post as both are neither 14m or above. Both are standard vehicles. I also mentioned the Leyland Leopard though I'm not sure on it's length. Another two off the top of my head are ex Ministry of Defence Wadham Stringers and there are some Leyland Tigers that seat around 67. Apologies if this wasn't the info you wanted

So sorry I should have been clearer but I thought we were talking about low floor tfl spec 12m single deckers for passenger service not old high floor leyland lynxs etc or enviro 300 school buses which is what the 3 + 2 seating is for. The post i quoted was talking about having 65 - 67 seat tfl spec single deckers were double deckers are no permitted. So sorry once again, my mistake.
