Will the current buses on the 298 be used for the contract or will something younger and second hand will have to be used? Oh Yes, it has been retained with its existing vehicles. I believe one of the ex Abellio MMC’s will also be allocated

Oh The current vehicles will be ten years old when the new contract starts in February 2022. Of course a different operator could bid with newer existing vehicles, or Sullivan Buses could source some that are going off-lease if any are available. The contract has already been awarded to Sullivan Buses. I suspect that something will be bought by Sullivans. Also, weren't a couple of MMC's bought from Abellio, one for the 549 and one for the 298?

Nothing will be brought - the current existing allocation on the 298 is the vehicles specified and I believe one of the ex Abellio MMC’s will also be added to the allocation if it hasn’t already done so. I believe some of the allocation has already been refurbished IIRC

AE11 returned to service yesterday after almost 7 months off. Was this maintenance related or a refurbishment?

Possibly both as they were/are going through a refurb program for the new contract which starts tomorrow I happened to film AE11 at Southgate, and comparing to photos from last summer it appears to have been refurbished - it has at least had significant lower panel repairs. It retains black around its side windows but is missing its roundels (similar to AE15 which I also saw).

Hearing that Sullivan Buses are taking over the 84, no further details than that ie route structure, frequencies or vehicles

Hearing that Sullivan Buses are taking over the 84, no further details than that ie route structure, frequencies or vehicles Dean Sullivan has confirmed this on his facebook group. St Albans to Potters Bar only at roughly the same frequencies as now.

Great news about the 84. Glad to see it still going.
I don’t see the Barnet section being replaced at all. You could pretty much get out jail there by telling people to use the 298 then 384 for Barnet lmao

I posted about this the other day in the Metroline thread 😁 Presumably will be looking at a short notice registration, as the LSP guidance generally wants 3 months notice (section 5.2). As per section 5.3 TfL will normally issue the LSP every second Friday content.tfl.gov.uk/lsp-explanatory-note.pdfNot sure if application has been made yet, but it appears page was last updated 31st Jan which suggests new LSP should (in theory) be published today. If it does proposed timetable etc will appear in the have your say haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/london-service-permit-consultations
