I really hope the 298 will be the last route in London to go electric.

I really hope the 298 will be the last route in London to go electric. I am not even convinced Sullivan will ever get any hybrid or electric buses, I would have thought evens on chance that owners would rather sell up or retire in few years time. Just my view, not factual before anyone misreads it as actual.

I really hope the 298 will be the last route in London to go electric. I would say extremely unlikely. I think the most likely routes are 202 and 405, followed by routes 25, 425 and K1

It’s the only one of the K route that doesn’t. It’s the Malden Manor/Tolworth back streets and the New Malden stand that prevents longer buses so the E100EV would be perfect in 8.9m, max 9.3m

So many different things could happen.
The contracts could be lost after 5 years Both routes could be split with the 25 going to tender after 5 years and the 425 getting a 2 year extension Both routes convert to electric in 2025 or 2027 releasing the smart hybrids for elsewhere I think there will be a few random routes that hang on right until 2030 or 2034? with existing buses. There could be routes that even going past this deadline because of route restrictions or garage limitations.

My bet is that the Smart Hybrids will be sent outside of London. The bus scene is very dynamic to predict what will happen towards the end of the decade, even hard to guess what will happen by this time next year.

I don't see that happening - most likely outcomes is they are retained on their route or are moved onto another route that uses older vehicles

As they are leased, as are all Stagecoach London buses acquired since 2011, I doubt Stagecoach would send them to any of their operations outside London.
