If the report is true it seems to be anothr case of TfL cutting corners with safety. The normal safety procedures would be to halt rail services untill the bridge is convirmed as being safe. In this case there also seems to be a risk of further safety issues from the vibrations of trains going over the bridge. You seem to have a big problem with TfL bob. Just about everyone of your posts seems to be bashing TfL or bus companys or some sort of organisation... What's caused you to be so anti TfL? I just wish TfL would prpoerly follow safety procedures rather then always cut corners. In thisd case we have a large crane having hit a bridge. It could have done structural damage to it which would make is unsafe. Do you want to see a a repeat of the de roofed bus incident ? only in this case a train coming off the bridge. Hopefully the damage is not serious but until it is examined by an expert one does not know. It is this lack of concern with safety that alarms me with TfL. They have a long history of it. They still have not implimented all the safety measures that were recomended after the Kings Cross Fire. They still have not implimented the safety measures following the bombings of the underground trains.

Bus and truck crash under a bridge!! news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7285085.stmfrom the above link. A tow-truck has overturned following an accident with a double-decker bus under a railway bridge in south London. The accident in Battersea Park Road, Kennington, happened as the truck tried to go under the bridge with its extended towing arm at about 1010 GMT. The arm caught the bottom of the bridge resulting in it tilting on to the oncoming number 345 bus, police said. The bus, which was left leaning over, had 30 passengers onboard at the time. None of the passengers were hurt. No other injuries were reported. Battersea Park Road remains closed both ways between Latchmere Road and Falcon Road leading to long queues in the area. The tow-truck and the bus remain at the scene. Three firefighting crews and six emergency vehicles, including three ambulances, responded to the incident. London Fire Brigade said a railway engineer also attended the scene to assess if the accident resulted in any structural damage to the bridge which is used by Southern services and London Overground. There are currently no reports of any disruption in train services, Transport for London said. If the report is true it seems to be anothr case of TfL cutting corners with safety. The normal safety procedures would be to halt rail services untill the bridge is convirmed as being safe. In this case there also seems to be a risk of further safety issues from the vibrations of trains going over the bridge. Maybe the BBC doesn't require anyone to have a modicum of knowledge on the geography of South London! It's not new, they've had 'Brixton High street' and 'Acre Road', should be Road & Lane respectively. Also, the railway bridge concerned, it's the link from Clapham Junction to Willesden on the west London line. Do is run on a Saturday?

From the photo it appears that neither vehicle is toucing the bridge , they just happen to be under it. I do agree with the point about vibrations however there were plenty of recovery teams there im sure the vehicles will have been stabilised with air cushions etc by that point.

Also from the report it said the bridge had been examined by a railway engineer to assess if the accident resulted in any structural damage to the bridge.
Also the track is used by Southern Services and therefore it is probably not for TFL to say whether the track is safe or not.

Also the track is used by Southern Services and therefore it is probably not for TFL to say whether the track is safe or not. Actually the track is used by both Southern and London Overground, the latter being run by TfL, so they would have a say in this matter. But either way as you said, there was a railway engineer present to assess any possible damage to the bridge. It would appear that standard and correct procedures have been followed after this incident, so I'm none too sure about what 'bob' is getting at.

Well I can't say I'm surprised to hear of something like this, especially in today's climate, but it's shocking nevertheless.

Reported yesterday on the newspaper section of London Tonight that TfL have said that no more routes are to be converted to bendy operation. Can'y remember which paper it was, but i think it may have been one of the free ones.
I really hope that this is true because i can't stand the bloody things!!

Is it that time of the year? Yet another crash, this time in Kingston, saw on the front of the Surrey Comet, a picture of a K* SD(Transdev) smashed thru' a wall. The headline was about it taking 2 hours for an ambulance to attend! Is it the quality of the drivers being recruited, the pressure they are under or just driving standards in genenal where nobody these days seems to give way to a bus? I let a 65 out into the traffic queue in Richmond this morning, and the driver behing tooted and fingered me as if I had no right to do so. he then tried all the way to Kew Bridge to pass me and the bus, he failed!!
