New branding for the BYDs 👇 I really don't want to sound negative but really what was the point is going to the effort with these buses on the road for a couple of hours a day max? I really don't think the school children will be too bothered. Electric vehicles are everywhere now and not just buses so do we really need to be promoting them? they are now going to be standard for buses going forward.
I know this probably never cost that much but still a waste of money when budgets are tight.
Sorry again for being a Mr Grump.
I agree with you on it being a waste of money, however I think that it could increase usage because schoolchildren may then then see using the 692/699 as an environmentally friendly way of travelling to school. I'm also pretty sure its a uno initiative rather than a TfL initiative meaning that it won't cost TfL anything

I think this branding looks good but it wasn’t needed. However I would like whoever designs these to probably do so for other TfL services.

Maybe it’s a low cost trial that TfL are doing to see the impact branding has on the younger demographic. I’m sure there are many young Gretas who use the school buses Uno operate and will probably will appreciate the branding promoting the environmentally friendly status of these buses. Seems as if Uno are a nice operator to trial these things with maybe due to the size of their operation.
I on the other hand do think that electric buses should be branded, there’s so much money being spent on them, why not promote them? All the other operators in the UK do so.

It looks like a PR stunt to me

Sorry, but I can guarantee you that's not the case How can you? Are you every school child on the bus? Considering that I am the most interested person from my school and even I don't find the branding particularly interesting, along with the fact that people barely know the service they're using, I honestly doubt anyone would care. They don't even know or care about what train company they're using, only that it comes at 33 past the hour. If they don't care about that, why would they care whether the bus is electric?

One of the journeys has always been a short working to/from Southgate - all that changed was that the pm short journey was switched from the 699 to the 692, which makes sense (and should have been the case from the start IMO).

I can't quite believe how much negativity there is on here towards a bit of branding whose cost is minimal in the big scheme of things (certainly minimal when compared to the cost of acquiring an electric bus in the first place). If Uno want to make people aware that they have electric buses, why not? External branding on a bus isn't just directed at its passengers. Buses are mobile billboards seen by many people.

I love this! It would be good to see more electric vehicles shouting out their credentials. Imagine the impact of a metallic lightning bolt vinyl down the sides and big, shouty messages about all-electric and zero-emission new buses for London. There probably won't be any impact as electric buses are everywhere now and I doubt someone will all of a sudden see the branding and feel inspired to ride a school bus. The livery was alright when the electrics were new, but what's the point now when we literally have hundreds. UNO the operator that always brands their London Buses, lol!

You don't see Uber electric cars running around with branding. Electrics have taken off so quickly both buses and cars it's just part of daily life now.

Questions:
a) do you think route 383 will be lost by UNO? b) if the 383 is retained do you think it will retain its existing buses or get new ones?

Questions: a) do you think route 383 will be lost by UNO? b) if the 383 is retained do you think it will retain its existing buses or get new ones? No I don't think that it will be lost. I think the 383 will retain its buses until 2029 on a 7 year contract. They'll be 14 years old by the end which is not bad for a suburban route. Though the 383 contract would likely need a bus from sales stock to replace 605 because that's 14 years old.
