I am intrigued for 383 tender result which hopefully should come soon. What will UNO do with surplus vehicles should it be lost?

The 383 contract is expected to start in June. But no tender results have been announced. What happens to the contract if it doesn’t get awarded before June?

Who knows. It is a problem TfL is making for themselves. In your opinion Who is the the body not awarding contracts? TfL. So it is a fact not opinion. They are the ones that will have to sort out any mess that will end up costing them.

At the moment it is the DfT that is preventing the awards of contracts. Without a long term budget settlement it is not possible to commit to anything.

You know full well my reply had nothing to with, "who is the body who awards contracts" rather than your opinionated statement of "It is a problem TfL is making for themselves". These two things may look similar but they aren't when you know other factors are in play. So I stand by my original response. So you are more than welcome to have your opinion but it's not fact at all.

It is a problem TfL is making for themselves. not really a problem. Contract gets extended until such a time when TfL are in a position to restart the tender award process. It's not really a problem TfL are making for themselves- TfL are in a position where they have to find a way of finding lost revenue/funding from the fare box following the significant drop in passenger numbers during the height of the pandemic.

I am surprised though the 383 contract hasn't been awarded earlier.

What if a operating company has a tender on unfavourable terms so has no interest in extending it? Fuel costs are rising above inflation They maybe missing out on cheaper existing vehicle deals as companies have to dispose or return vehicles with no contracts. This will only end up costing more in the long run ... it is just a petty move that will come back to haunt them.

This will only end up costing more in the long run ... it is just a petty move that will come back to haunt them. a tender based on a unfavourable term for the operator would have been an issue for the operator, rather than TfL. They could always say "no" to TfL. Any decent operator in London would have worked out their tender bid based on the cost of the vehicles, either leased or owned- companies won't have done their sums on the back of a cigarette packet. Any opportunity to reduce costs will be a bonus to the operator I don't see how trying to find a long term solution to the future sustainability of the organisation following a significant loss in revenue following a pandemic that saw a significant drop in money accumulated from the fare box will come back to "haunt" anyone.
