So hopefully Uno will have to find spare buses for the 298 before school term starts and all the double deckers currently on it have to go back to their intended school routes. Uno are kind of lucky that school is closed or otherwise they would have no spare buses. What spare diesels could UNO use for 298? Whatever 2nd hand diesel double decker is available for sale that they can get their hands on I suppose.

I think they would just whatever they can get from another London opeator or even from Ensign which they do have some TfL spec E400's and Scanias including the ex 97 batch for sale currently on sale at Ensign that can be used as short term loans if they need to do until get can get something slightly newer.

Are some ex 86 E400s up for sale at ensign or some E400 tridents? The ex 86 examples have mainly been used to fill in gaps with Stagecoach on other routes. RATP may be releasing some ADE’s once the H98 but as busoccultation mentioned, Ensignbus have TfL spec Enviro 400’s in their sale stock already

Don't forget that Uno were already due to take over the 298 with existing vehicles from February 2025 (on a three-year contract) so they must have a source of vehicles in mind already. Now - they have those new tri-axle MCW-bodied Volvo deckers that have just been delivered for their X10 Hatfield-Luton service. I don't think they have been licensed yet and even if they have, I doubt they would be pressed into service on the 298. But you never know!

It would appear that Uno have acquired ex RATP SDE20295 and Arriva EN14, it's now numbered 606 and is currently out on the 383.
Replacement for 605 perhaps?

From observations, the MMC and SP on the 298 let you tap on but the TE-something 60reg has a little bit of paper over the card reader saying something like “ITS FREE!!!”
