And to save anymore bickering if Chas could just confirm roughly how many passengers use the EL2 at Dagenham Dock?

Oh its all my fault is it? You know what, I really can't be bothered to argue about it, its like being back at school Then you must be the School Child then ;D. You seem to ignore everything, and think you know better than a bus driver.

That opinion is complete tosh. If a single person used a bus then its purpose is pointless. They would be better off in a car. Less pollution, less delays, and no unnecessary financial burden to TfL If everyone used public transport there would be less traffic on the road, less pollution and more money to fund Hybrid Technology to reduce pollution even more. If a bus is going to be used by a single person ... then that person changing their mode of transport from bus to car is bad for the environment, increasing pollution

Chazaroo stated: In my opinion this topic is useless as most replies are based on shady observations. The whole point is to get people out of their cars and on to buses so if even 1 person uses that bus then its purpose has been fulfilled. That opinion is complete tosh. If a single person used a bus then its purpose is pointless. They would be better off in a car. Less pollution, less delays, and no unnecessary financial burden to TfL So how about 3 people, that's how much my mate on the 76's picked up in one trip, it's still providing a service for those 3 people so it is worth while still running the route

If 3000 people do it even less cars.

If 3000 people do it even less cars. Your example was that even if there is 1 person per bus, it would be a good thing. Which would be silly since having 3000 cars is much better for the environment than 3000 buses, as I'm sure you would know. I get your point though...

I quoted it and the person who stated it never said 1 person per bus either. 3000 buses carrying people is more efficient then 3000 cars IMO.

I had pledged not to post on here again because of all the vitriol and bile on here but anyway if I can put an idea for the 130 197 and 312 forward without being shot down in flames?
Simply curtail the 130 and 312 at Ashburton Park, there is a stand in Stroud Green Way, and return them to Norwood Junction via Spring Lane when the weight limit is removed. This would bring the 312 back to its correct route along Lower Addiscombe Road.
Leave the 197 as it is although a frequency increase can probably be justified anyway regardless of the 130 and 312 change.
In an ideal world a free to use shuttle service would be provided between Ashburton Park and Norwood Junction using Solo's or something similar that comply with the weight restriction.

Route 228 - Goes from absolutely nowhere to nowhere, linking nowhere to nowhere. Silly waste of money by TFL as if someone wants to go from Harlesden to Maida Vale, they can take the 187 instead of going on the 228 via New Zealand and Papa New Guinea. Route 332 - Just a duplicate 16 till it reaches Paddington Green, it stops nowhere near the station at all. You might as well just get the 16 to Edgware Road Station and walk down the road. If anything just extend the 316 back to Brent Park Tesco. Route 460 - Literally a duplicate of the 82 from Golders Green to North Finchley, it's not as if the 82 does not have a high frequency already and its just a waste of a route. Extend the 260 back to North Finchley and increase that ridiculous PVR from 16 to 27 using the 460s PVR. I've often thought there should be a route from Kilburn area that goes down Edgware Road and turns left onto Marylebone Road to Kings Cross, maybe the 332 could do that?

A lot of people seem to suggest axing one route then increasing the frequency of other routes. Before you know it you are back at exactly the same PVR and driver resources as you started, and your service provision is now worse as you have distributed resources away from where it's most needed and people have to walk further to catch their bus on average. No savings are made and all you produce is a load of upset passengers.

Certainly the suggestion made earlier in the thread of withdrawing the 415 and making the 432 Elephant & Castle to Elmers End makes perfect sense to me.

Not saying all is perfect and nothing shall be changed - I was just picking up on one theme that runs behind several of the suggestions made.

Re 13/82/139 - as far as I'm concerned all of the routes are sufficiently well used throughout the day there isn't actually any excess capacity to cut. If there is enough critical mass along a corridor that supports multiple destinations all on high frequencies then why not. Why force people living on the A41 to take the bus from Abbey Road or get the 82 and change when they want Piccadilly Circus.

Best to just ignore certainly people I find is best. I drive the route every single day. I'm telling you it's used regardless of what you've seen. The reason we get worked up is because we're the people out there doing the job and some of the comments and opinions really do grate because there's no real facts or experiences behind it. Just deluded opinions. I've seen the EL2 on many occasions and never seen any passengers go to or from Dagenham Dock. Obviously if it were withdrawn and combined with the EL1 the overall PVR would be reduced. I've no idea why some people get so worked up, this is just about opinions, nobody has to be right or wrong and why on earth people are talking about job losses, redundancies etc is beyond me.
