What impact will the rise in electricity costs have on the plan for zero emissions ? Zero emissions (I assume you refer to TfL's bus strategy) is a long-term funding strategy and should not be derailed by short-term volatility in pricing. Also electricity and fuel prices can be influenced by Government policy and intervention as well as direct production costs and supply shortages. I hope that now we have a new Prime Minister taking office tomorrow that there will be swift and decisive action on electricity pricing.

If my calculations are correct then by this time next year there will be 1K+ EVs in service.
My honest prediction is that they will continue rising rapidly over the years and costs will become cheaper.

Is it true that older garages like BW cannot have electric bus chargers?

Is it true that older garages like BW cannot have electric bus chargers? Probably more a myth. It was often said A wouldn't work with electrics and now 90% will be electric from next year. Truth is probably more that some of the older ones will see a reduced capacity due to having chargers and different layouts to newer open air garages.

I think BW will probably be one of the last Stagecoach garages to be converted for electric buses unless there is a surprise in the 8 and 205 awards. With all the recent expansion with LI, AW and HK it could even eventually close a few years down the line. Please don't take this is wild speculation about garage closures!!

Can't imagine it'll be very far down the line though. The 205 if retained without an extension will need new electrics as early as 2024, and if lost chances are another electric route could be won in a few years using that space.

Electric buses are really starting to flood across London. I am noticing this each day.
By next year will there be 1,000+ EVs?

A bit of a surprise will be on display at the Euro Bus Expo at the NEC this week.
After 2 years off the road LT11 will be there following conversion to full electric.
