That idea has been considerded although it seems unlikely to happen at least until the Spring Lane weight restriction is removed. Going back to the Tramlink issue if the 54 was returned to Croydon it would be difficult to justify keeping both the 289 and 312. Not really, 312 can just merge with the 412 whilst the 289 can be diverted at West Croydon away from Addiscombe & Elmers End - the western section of the 289 is extremely used and removing that would create a massive gap. And thus breaking the direct link from Elmers End/ Addiscombe to Mayday ... well I still call it that

As for the Croydon University Hospital name, it's pretty ridiculous. Like yourself, I will always know it as Mayday Hospital.

Well I think we all agree it is still Mayday?
Thats why I suggest the 289 to Norwood Junction keeping the Addiscombe/Mayday link with the 54 taking the 312 route to Croydon.
