Further to my post last week about Lothian purchasing ex London B9TLs, this has appeared on the Lothian enthusiast Facebook page: Here's the internal statement they are going to put out... We have acquired 50 ex London Wrightbus Gemini E5 Deckers for our business, these will help in removing E3 Plaxton President Dennis Tridents and Wrightbus Gemini 1 Volvo B7TLs from the fleet during 2018, along with additional new vehicle deliveries through the year and meeting our BUS2020 strategy and target of a fleet operating only at E5 or above including diesel hybrid and pure electric. As you might expect they will be refurbished to Lothian’s exacting standards including the removal of centre doors, air chill units and associated equipment. High back Lazzerini seats will be fitted along with USB’s, wood effect flooring as seen on our recent new buses, along with replacement energy efficient LED internal lighting, white LED Destination displays and front wheelchair ramps. Some people on the page are having a bit of a "wibble" at Lothian buying 2nd hand... Maybe those having a wibble should cough up the money for 50 new vehicles instead then - absolutely nothing wrong with going secondhand. On a separate note, I presume the Gemini's in question are the entire ex 18 allocation that went off lease when it was lost by Metroline? I think it was all of them plus some ex-TT ones? I'm not exactly sure how many ex Metroline ones there are, but there's already at least one refurbished vehicle up with Lothian now.

I've only seen a photo of the rear or one but even that looked good with a full-width rear route/destination display

The first 4 of the batch VW1842-1845 have been retained, 44 and 45 are at Brentford as top ups, not sure on plans for other two as LVF shows them not used for 11 days

Yes, it was a beast! Pity that a fair few of the better Euro 2 Tridents are getting the razor blade treatment round about now, but they served their useful purpose. They will live on on Youtube!

Surely the cost of fitting high back seats can't be that much higher. I wish this was part of the TFL specification, not just the odd Citaro (which for some reason often have high back seating, even in London)

News story from the Edinburgh Evening News, although some of the facts (like enjoying 2 doors) are incorrect. bit.ly/2BFvvGqThe article says 40 rather than 50, so the original post I made may have been *slightly* wrong

I get that he probably wouldn't know details on buses but some research would of also told him that Lothian already operate near identical B9TL's

DP199 and DP204 reported at Seaford & District, apparently to be for spare parts.

The VW might be going for Ballymena for modification to Lothian spec Not sure which direction other one is going, it is one of 6 that left London (10 of 16 went to Epsom bus after modifications), but appears to be still in full London spec, so has someone taken these on?

Some of those 6 have returned to Go-Ahead London for the Here East shuttle. The one in the picture is one of the few that doesn't seem to have found a long-term home.
