I quite liked the OTs, I thought they were the coolest sounding buses around. Regret I never had a chance to have a go in one Very slow however. Acceleration wise yes but they can be quick once up to speed - very lovely buses to use, just a shame I didn't have more rides on them. Along with the Citaro, the closest single deckers I've ever used personally that felt sort of coach like.

If the selector is used the 1st gear will sound almost identical to a locked ZF 1st gear and they would move more quickly in higher gears.

Really sad to see them abandoned like this These Tempos aren't even that old, they were great buses. I really liked their 'boxy' and modern design.

Optare know how to design their buses The single decker collection they had at the time consisting of the Delta, Sigma, Vecta & Excel were all nice looking buses - shame the Excel was so unreliable.

Do you remember the MAN Deltas on the 112? They were beasts, I remember being younger and asking my aunty if she could take me on the one-one-twelve as I used to call it. with regards to the Spectra IIRC it was based on the MCW Metrobus..

Before my time sadly - never ventured far from Lambeth until around 2004. I did snap one of London United's Vectas as a trainer on Oxford Street around 10 years ago The Spectra is technically the MCW Metrobus successor - Optare brought the design rights to the MCW Metrobus & Metrorider (not sure if that included the Metroliner) and the Spectra was based on the MCW Metrobus in collaboration with DAF. It's very striking how both Voith DB250's & the MCW Metrobus sound quite similar.

The 112 MANs were Vectas. Deltas were built on the heavyweight DAF SB220 chassis.
The Vectas were great buses - mechanically similar to the Marshall MANs that used to work the 46/79/95, but the Optare bodywork was much better (at least from a passenger's viewpoint). I hope your aunty agreed to your request!
